I sent an email to Prof. Shamus Khan and got his reply: "We have issued offers to our doctoral program; our decisions for our masters program are still pending. We receive several hundred applications for eight spots. In making decisions we must balance composition, interest areas, and fit. I am sorry we were unable to offer you admission to our doctoral program, but I wish you luck in your future sociological pursuits. "

Are you seeing a decision of waitlisting? I guess that means they are sending out WLs...

Is the email a generic one? did it say anything about the review process? I haven't heard from Columbia either.

I haven't heard from Berkeley. My web status hasn't changed either. Wondering what is going on there. Anyone have contacts there and could provide some insights?

I submit around Dec. 10th. but my materials were complete around the 20th, as my Toefl scores were late:(
