If I could just say -- Even though I did not get into Northwestern, I applaud its admissions process. It doesn't leave people hanging. The committee informs people right away whether they're accepted or not.

Hi Ashiepoo72, I applied to 12 schools, so I'm waiting on 9 more. My acceptance is from one of my top choices so I'm already happy about that. I'm just a big admirer of the Northwestern history program; any program that doesn't believe in the GRE is a winner in my book...

Honestly, don't despair. Ph.D. applications are so idiosyncratic that no one can really predict where one will get in.

How about JJWS? Did you have an interview at UPenn? I didn't. I'm trying to establish whether this status update is more likely to happen for those who were not interviewed.
