  1. Mine was an interview day (7hrs) not a weekend, but I totally agree. I had such a fun time! I enjoyed the other applicants and grad students. We all got on well. Great food too! excited for the next ones for sure.
  2. Info on Guelph clinical: They will take 5-6 students. They are meeting Monday as an area to decide who to make the first round of offers to, and within the week we will all know if we have been made an offer, wait listed, or rejected.
  3. I think it's because people want to stay in Toronto. It's a thoroughly average program.
  4. I have had an interviewer make a comment to me being biased against age, but in the other direction. I got the distinct impression he did not want to take out a 21 year old student fresh out of undergrad, because he said those types of students tended to view PhD more as just the next stage of school and not a career, whereas older applications viewed the PhD as a career itself and not a step towards a career. Now, this is only one profs opinion, but some of my advisers have echoed this sentiment that older applicants seem more serious and are thus less of a risk to take on.
  5. Just letting everyone know the interview day at Guelph was cancelled due to weather, and will now be held Friday, so I don't think we can expect any offers from Guelph to go out for at least a week from now, at minimum.
  6. Is anyone else interviewing at Guelph tomorrow? I'm worried it will be cancelled due to weather! :/
  7. Oh OK, good luck with Guelph We are all interviewing Monday so hopefully it won't be long after that we will all hear the results. I saw that too about Dal on the results page! Makes me very nervous. I contacted my POI at Dal last Saturday, and she replied on Sunday (Jan 25) that applications were still being reviewed and interviews still being extended, so I figured I didn't have to worry :/ Well I guess that is a lost cause for me! lol. I appreciate the info tho!
  8. Sorry, no idea! OISE? Could you say which program? Are you an international student? Just wondering because I was told everyone being considered at Guelph is attending the all-day interview on Monday. So, you won't be attending that? Did you have a skype interview? And when did you interview at Dal? Was it through skype? Thanks!
  9. I believe so, yes. Not every prof at Ryerson who wants a student will be able to take one due to seniority, funding, etc. So I think even if you are your POI's top choice, there is no guarantee of an offer. I think now that interviews are over they will be "battling it out" to see who gets to take one.
  10. For Clinical, they went in Jan 23. I work with a professor at Ryerson and he checked his email right in front of me to get the date. They could have decided as a group to extend this date, but I doubt it. Edit: Just because recommendations went in then, does not mean offers will be made yet. It just means profs had to rank their first, second, third, etc choices. Now the department will have to decide who gets to take a student, so it could be some time until actual offers are made.
  11. Ryerson is done, their recommendations were due last Friday
  12. Guelph's interview day is Monday for Clinical - no idea if Social will be included in that group. Also for Clinical, Waterloo has given their first round of interviews (phone) and are deciding on Friday who to invite for in person interviews.
  13. Yes! I applied to Clinical Neuropsych at U of Windsor (in Ontario). Nice to see other people interested in clinical neuropsych, it's definitely a rare program around here. All the other neuropsych programs I've seen in Ontario at not clinical.
  14. Oh wow, are you serious? I thought it was just something they did for funding, making you reapply. I thought as long as you were in good standing the PhD spot was reserved for you.... are you just applying to those other schools as a precaution, or are you actually worried about getting into OISE PhD? This is really making rethink applying to OISE at all. At the moment it was my top choice, but now I'm thinking if I get other offers, I should go anywhere but there.
  15. Ah yes, I am applying to sccp so it makes sense. If I may ask, why would you turn down your acceptance to OISE only to apply again this year? Sorry if this is too personal but I'm so curious
  16. Very interesting, thanks for the info. I took the info from prof websites such as this one: " To Potential Students: I accept approximately one to two new students (from either DPE or SCCP) to work in my lab per year. I do not meet students prior to shortlisting which occurs in February. If you are interested in working with me please send me an e-mail and I will make sure to read your file during the admissions process. If I think that we have similar interests (based on your written statement) I will contact you for an interview in February. " Hi Mandy, POI emailed me yesterday inviting me to the Open House
  17. My friend attends UTSC as a psych undergrad and volunteers in a few labs. I had him ask some profs if they finished their interviews and the three he asked said yes. However, one prof said that although she was done, some other profs may not because its done individually. I emailed my POI and he told me he was not taking any students this year... very odd because the website says he was, but oh well.
  18. Thanks! And thanks everyone else who said so Yes I sent all my offical transcripts everywhere to be safe, and also my offical GRE scores. I just wanted to get it all over with during Nov. OISE - They dont offer interviews until February, atleast this is what has happened in previous years and it says so on some profs websites UTSC - most profs are finished interviews but its done individually so Id recommend emailing your POI to double check
  19. hey everyone, Just found this thread today. Very helpful to find people in the same boat! I just got the invitation to the York open house today, did anyone else? Also, for those people waiting on Queen's, I have not heard anything from them but a friend interviewed with her POI last week, so they may be finished. As for Dal - my POI told me yesterday that applications are still being reviewed and invites have not gone out yet.
