  1. Will do. Anyone gonna claim the UCSD admit?
  2. I sent emails to UC Davis and Northwestern...cause they're being teases right now.
  3. Same. "Palms are sweaty, vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti..."
  4. Is that it for UC Davis and Northwestern?
  5. Hey, you're human. Keep your head up, clench your teeth, take a shot, and hope for the best.
  6. Awesome. Congrats on Northwestern, hopefully I'll join you in celebrating!
  7. So here's a readily applicable question: how does the notification process work? It seems that there are waves of notifications, whether acceptances or rejections. How is it that there are not larger waves, or more streamlined notifications at least?
  8. Sounds like a good problem to have!
  9. Congrats to the recent UC Davis admits! That is huge!
  10. Well that's annoying, considering how much I hussled on the Irvine application. What do we know about their department? I like that it has access to the Institute For Mathematical Behavioral Sciences, but other than that it seems a bit...disorganized?
  11. God, I hope we get Chicago next week. Positive thinking, positive thinking, positive thinking.
  12. Where the heck are the UC's? I know UCLA takes its time, but I was hoping we'd see some movement from Davis/Irvine/San Diego. Hang in there everybody, we're a few days from February...
  13. RealDowner: not in its entirety, only an excerpt for a seminar on Rat Choice. As far as formal theory goes, I've always seen formal models as devices, tools that help communicate the questions/hypotheses in political science. Good scholarship still requires context, i.e., a well formulated hypothesis, or a fresh question. Just my two cents...I know Methods has a bad rep in Poli Sci circles...
  14. I am well aware what Methods consist of, thanks. Game Theory just makes the most sense to me.
  15. Yeah, I'm hoping that Methods makes me stand out, as it doesn't seem that popular (compared to IR and Comparative), but I have no idea how I match up to other folks' quant ability. I do love how applicable game theory is to...everything, really; as a Professor said to me: "Once you see...the game theoretical logic...life is all games and subgames, it is all strategy..." I'm hoping to use game theory and network analysis to look at the flow of information on social networks. Pretty hot topic these days, eh? Good luck to you too, Little Mac! Hey, all we need is for one to say 'yes,' right?
  16. Divurgerian: what programs are you looking at/what are you looking to do? Good luck everyone, seriously. One day, we'll reconnect at an APSA conference and be drunk and merry and nerdy!
  17. Hey, bromo-sapien! What programs you looking at/what you looking to work on? Sartori, I'm in Tech Support at a software company. Nothing fancy, I'm a punching bag for people who can't figure out business software...financial journalist, eh?
  18. Most of the UC's (LA, Davis, San Diego, Irvine), Michigan, Chicago, and Northwestern. I am applying for American/Quant subfields. My stats are decent, but nothing special; math classes destroyed my GPA. Speaking of which, are there ANY Quant-nerds on this board?
  19. Hey gang, Looooong time lurker, first time poster. This is my first cycle, and my job requires me to be near a computer all day, so there are few distractions from this torture. That said, congrats to all the recent admits! Let's stay positive folks, we've all worked hard, and we're all gonna be fine.
