  1. Ithaca is really an isolated place so I'm not sure if it's convenient to attend more conference or make more connection comparing to those big cities.
  2. I just came back from Ithaca for campus visit. The life in Ithaca is totally different from NYC, but I'm kind of neutral to the location. One concern is will there be less opportunity since it is not convenient to go outside. Which school did you choose last year? And any advice on Cornell or Columbia?
  3. My current research interest is more on optimization side but not 100% sure. And I am thinking about to go to academia after graduation but this also could change. As far as I have heard from professors at different university, Columbia, Cornell and Georgia Tech are on the same level in terms of operations research and Northwestern is not on the same tier. I've done my undergraduate at Georgia Tech and I am not sure whether I should stay at the same school for another 5 years.
  4. I have trouble to make the final decision. Any suggestion on which school to choose?
  5. I'm choosing between Columbia, Cornell, Georgia Tech, and Northwestern. Any suggestion on which one to go?
  6. I was interviewed last Friday by two professors.
  7. First of all, you might have to improve your Q on GRE. As far as I know, PhD program in IE will mainly look at your quantitative score since there will be lots of math in PhD study. And also, there are several tracks in IE, such as manufacturing, logistics, etc. and even operations research. Which school to apply will based on what area you want to do research on since different schools are good at different areas.
  8. 1. University (school, major, gpa) Top ISyE school in US (3.91/4.0) + Minor in Math (Math GPA: 4.0) 2. GRE/GMAT Q:170 V:150 W:3 4. Recommendations (professors, supervisors, managers) All letters are from my professors, two are from research advisors, the other are from the very top prof in the field 5. Other relevant info TA for 2 semesters, Best project in department and applying for IIE competition
