  1. Northwestern would be a good place for theory and qualitative comparative.
  2. Glad the process is over. Decision is made!

  3. Congrats! Good to see some of us receiving good news in the last few weeks of this trying process...
  4. Wow, I didn't realize this thread was a year old. Oh well...carry on.
  5. Thanks for the tips, lycoris. I'll most likely be attending in the fall pursuing a PhD in American politics. Best of luck in the History department, 8in2009! I was a History/PoliSci double major as an undergrad, and the Politics department at Brandeis is known for its emphasis on qualitative and historical methods, maybe we'll see each other around.
  6. Don't lose hope yet, curufinwe, it's not official until you receive a letter. Best of luck!
  7. I take that back, apparently the Brandeis results were fake, and I was actually accepted, so now I'm forced to make a decision!
  8. In an effort to divert (negative) attention from someoneoutthere (sorry about all the hate here, it's really quite repulsive), I have offers from UMass-Amherst and Brandeis. I'm an Americanist, my interests are American political development, the presidency, and campaigns/elections. Brandeis is giving more money for more years, but the cost of living between Waltham/Boston and Amherst sort of negates that (and the folks at UMass said students generally receive funding for additional years, unless you're a total screw-up). I know Brandeis usually ranks far better placement wise, but I was pretty impressed with the folks at UMass. Hopefully I'll have a chance to visit Brandeis (DGS said they are trying to schedule a visit for next Friday, which I may or may not be able to attend) and figure it out. Just thought I'd hear some of your thoughts.
  9. Accepted at Brandeis. 5 years of funding. American politics
  10. As the results search shows some Brandeis acceptances, I'm assuming I'm rejected. Thus, I will be attending UMass-Amherst pursuing a PhD in American politics.
  11. someoneoutthere, I know your topic has been discussed quite a bit, and in the end it is obviously up to you, but unless I got full funding from the MA at Yale, I would go to Madison in a heartbeat. It may not be HYPSB, but Madison is pretty damn good, and I think you have mentioned that there are faculty members there who align well with your interests. I know the Yale MA is tempting (mouth-watering perhaps), but I've heard from several MA and PhD students and most of them seem to say that it is unlikely you will receive a great deal of attention as a student in a MA program. I have no idea about the dynamics of the dept. at Yale, but it's something to keep in mind. I know letters from superstars are always nice to have, but it may be difficult to have enough access to those people as a MA student. Just my two cents.
  12. I'm feeling the same way. I was accepted at UMass, which ranks close to CUNY in terms of placement, and while I'm still anxious to hear from Brandeis, I'm growing to like UMass more and more, especially given all of the recent hires in my subfield (American)...We'll see what happens.
  13. To those of us still waiting for Brandeis. I just emailed Dan Kryder (professor and DGS) about the timeline and he responded: "We are concluding our work this week and the Admissions Office should be sending out letters very soon." So it sounds like next week. At least I'm hoping that is what it sounds like.
  14. Curufinwe, you still haven't heard from Brandeis either? The wait is killing me!
  15. For those of us still waiting on Brandeis. It seems most plausible that we will hear from them this week. Their spring break is from March 29-April 6, and I assume they would like to get this done before that, especially since most of us only have until April 15 to decide.
  16. Many congrats to curufinwe! I also received my rejection from JHU today (via the mail). Just waiting on a decision from Brandeis now. Anyone else likely heading to UMass in the fall?
  17. Any word on Brandeis? Was the decision on the results page ever confirmed, or was it a hoax? The department has seemed pretty hush hush regarding a timeline for decisions based on responses to those who have emailed inquiring about it...
  18. In regards to Brandeis. A few folks on here have emailed them and have indicated that 1)They will be admitting a new cohort, so we won't have a repeat of last year 2)The adcomm was supposed to meet end of Feb/beginning of March and 3)The response emails implied that they didn't want to be bothered by emails from undergrads right now (which is understandable), so I decided to hold off on emailing them.
  19. Gotta love the bear. Also, I heard that calls are out...
  20. This is off topic, but Bobb Cobb, is your screen name a Seinfeld reference? If so, may I call you The Maestro?
