What were you doing when you received your acceptance?
Prairiegirl2015 replied to YA_RLY's topic in Waiting it Out
For my first one I had just woken up from a 4 hour sleep after working a night shift. I was browsing the internet(with my email opened in the back) when I heard the notification. I checked the email to see the sender as MSW/PhD. My heart skipped a beat! after finding out I was accepted I could not believe my eyes as I was not expecting any notification for at least another month. After calling a friend and family, I did the biggest happy dance in history. I still have the acceptance letter on my kitchen fridge to remind me of my accomplishment everyday. Although I ended up not attending that university, anytime I see that acceptance letter it instantly elevates my mood! For the one that I am attending, I was at work and decided to check my email. I figured I was rejected as others on the forum had been notified about 3 weeks prior. I was thinking, finally the rejection notification. I opened it only to see a congratulations!!!! I was in shock! I had to read it over and over again. Not only was it an acceptance but there was a 9000 funding package in the form of a GAship! I remember complaining to my mother about graduate school expences just a couple days prior. After about a week and half, my formal acceptance letter came in the mail and I found out I had been awarded an additional 6000 dollar scholarship(merit based) I was beyound estatic. From time to take I take that acceptance letter out and reread it just to remind me of what an accomplishment i have achieved. For someone who has been dealing with some tough issues lately, reading that acceptance letter always takes me to a different place! -

Dont take it as a rejection until your myfile or the department has notified you. Like you(but advanced standing) I had totally given up on York until I heard back about 3 weeks after acceptance/waitlist were all notified. Not only that but I actually found out I got an additional 6000 scholarship! Point is, dont cross it out until you have officially been informed. Good luck to both of you

If you are put on a waitlist and they need certain information, they'll ask for it. In my case, I was asked to send in a final transcript and practicum evaluation(never did practicum 1, I got PLAR credit for it) after completion. I am not sure if everyone put on the waitlist was asked to send in the same. They did not ask for my resume. I can see sending in transcripts from end of semester in December but a resume with a couple more months of experience? Anyway I dont think they start ranking the waitlists until after April 7th(deadline to send in response), by that time I am sure they would have sent out waitlist emails/letters.... Waitlisted: University of Toronto

I was accepted to the one year program @ Carleton. My response was needed by today(21 days from date of offer). I only responded yesterday... I am guessing depending on when others were offered, their response would be needed 21 days from then....They probably want to get a number of responses before offering second round of admissions....I'd say give it some time before contacting these people....... Good luck everyone, hope you hear some good news....

I wonder how many people go on the waitlist at University of Toronto. I just received my letter that I am on the waitlist. Doesnt really matter to me because I wasnt planning on going anyway(accepted an offer with a better aligned stream choice) but just curious to know how many people get on the waitlist. ! For advanced standing

Thanks Yweang ! At the end of the day it all boils down to YOU and your academic ability aka GPA and your statement of purpose/intent(how well it was written. This would show your academic( writing skills) and intellectual ability. The letters of reference only count for small portion. If you take a look at westerns website it'll tell you how the admissions grade is calculated. I think references only counted for either 10 or 20%. The university of Toronto specifically stated that the statement of intent would weigh significantly when making the decision.
