Dittos. My program admin specifically told me mid- to late-March. Question, ya'll: what's up with colleges and funding? I applied to a scholarship outside of any college (Ertegun), so I kind of know when to hear back about that. However, from what I've heard and read up on, college funding notifications can take quite a while (late May?!). How are we as students suppose to make a financially smart decision about schools without knowing all of our options (funding-wise)? Most, if not all, US institutions want a decision by April 15th. This all assumes that I'll be accepted and NOT rejected. Which I'm trying not to think about...

When you're in a public restroom, and a person jiggles the handle the minute you lock the door. I mean, seriously. You had to be right behind me to attempt to open the door SO SOON after I went in. No, dear person, I did not apparate out of this bathroom with the door still locked. Please stop trying the handle! I've been in here for 2 seconds, so please do yourself a favor and find another restroom!

Master's program applicants still have a long wait. East Asian programs are (typically) so small! You'd think we'd hear back sooner...

Thanks for the feedback! I researched the program extensively (or what I thought was extensively), but didn't see anything about interviews. If they ask for one, I'll make sure to post that information here.

Japanese Studies (MSt), Jan 23rd deadline. Spoke to my POI within the department, who encouraged me to apply based on my research. I think this goes without saying, but I'm nervous as heck. Most (all?) on this thread are applying for their DPhil -- is a skype interview likely for a MSt applicant?

Yes -- a thousand times, yes. I only applied to two schools (same reason), and I thought I would have heard something by now. One school asked me to translate something before they continued to review my application -- think this is a good sign? I have this back-and-forth in my mind; Oh, they see potential in me -- but, oh, maybe they don't think I can do it. And then I think: Oh, God. What if I can't do it? What if I'm not what they're looking for? And then I die a little on the inside.
