The school where I was waitlisted last year told us at the interview "being waitlisted means we want to work with you" it's just they can't accept everyone at once.

It should make you feel good! It might simply mean that certain profs were advocating for your admission but were overruled by others on the committee. That is, they still want you but the numbers didn't play out for full offer of admission the first round. Hope some people decline offers and you get in!
