  1. I've reached out to several people at Columbia to get info on international clinical SW and no one will respond. I'm seriously leaning towards declining them. You'd think they'd help me...
  2. Yes, that means you got admitted. Check yoru other email folders. I got the same email after my admissions one.
  3. I heard two days ago via email. They sent me an email asking me to log in for my decision. So hopefully your notice will be coming very soon. I actually heard those things about Columbia. That it was overpriced and they don't offer much for clinical. Mostly that it's just a name you're paying for. NYU is also a decent amount cheaper. But..... still unsure of what to do.
  4. Hi! I am going crazy trying to decide what school to pick. Does anyone have advice on the MSW program for NYU vs Columbia vs U of Chicago? I am interested in international social work (clinical).
  5. Yes I'm worried about the price as well. Especially since everyone I have asked in the program keeps telling me it's not worth the money and really is only great for networking. I'm thinking about NYU since it seems to be a better fit and more affordable. That, or Chicago since the cost of living is cheaper.
  6. Hi! Just curious, why are you transfering from NYU?
  7. Yes, sorry! 3.6 GPA, BFA (with a minor in journalism) undergrad at Wayne State University, no GRE and have been working an internship in Japan for a year in sex trafficking in Cambodia and India.
  8. Not sure what happened to this forum.... but I got in! yay
  9. Hello! I got into U of M as well. While I have not attended the school, I am from Detroit so if you have some questions maybe I could answer. Feel free to inbox me.
  10. Hi Jax. Did you go to Univ of Chicago? I'm trying to figure out whether there or Columbia. I feel like I keep hearing negative things about Columbia besides networking advances with the Columbia name.
  11. I have my undergrad in Fine Arts from 2011. No GRE and no social service. However, I have been interning at a NPO in Japan.
  12. I have been accepted to Chicago already. I heard a couple of weeks ago. I am still waiting to hear from Columbia. There seems to be a rumor that we could hear the end of this week. Just curious.... Which one are you leaning towards? I am having difficulty finding information about the international program at Columbia. I keep hearing it's expensive (but not much different than Chicago) and am not sure which one to go with.
  13. That's for rolling admissions though. Those who applied early should hear by March.
  14. Thanks! Yes, all I've seem to find online is that Columbia is expensive. Which Chicago is around pretty much the same price. Chicago's website seems to be easier to find more information, but I have read that their international program is still in its early stages. A lot of people have stated that Columbia is a waste for the money, but I find that hard to believe.
  15. I am also still waiting. I have been accepted already by three other schools but no word from Columbia as of yet. Does anyone know someone personally who has already completed the program? I'm trying to weigh my options and so far all I seem to find online is "Columbia is overpriced". Not sure if I should pick Univ of Chicago over it (spec. for international social work).
  16. I was fortunate enough to have been accepted into Univ of Chicago MSW program for fall 2015. I am still waiting on Columbia's response, but still want to be prepared and weigh my options. I specifically want to go into international social work, working abroad with human rights in conflict areas. Both schools are highly rated, but I am having difficulty deciding on which one will best help me on my path. Has anyone gone through either program and are happy with it? Any advice would be appreciated.
