I mailed my POI and he replied back. He is a genuinely nice person but then there is only so much people can help you with. I would be happiest man if 30-50% is true and I could make a cut but I don't come as an optimistic man. Regarding Rice and 'you know what', I will only suggest not to worry too much. Your POI atleast spoke to you and showed interest, you might well get in. Don't give yourself a hard time, I come with a GRE of 330 and am yet to make it to anywhere. All you can do is try and I can see that you do. Good luck for the coming weeks.

Rice, no. I actually never heard from any POIs from Rice. I am counting only on my application material there. Aside, I heard back from UT Austin. The phase 1 decisions are made and I did not made the cut. Second phase will run by April and technically there are chances. But don't we all know the probability? What about your responses from Rice? Anything? Ever?

I honestly don't qualify to answer that but yes, I know people from there are in the industry.

I guess there should be no harm in writing a mail to my POI at UTA. They are anyway almost done IMO. I will drop a polite mail on Monday and just hope he has a clear picture (a miracle please!) post the student visit weekend.

Then? Shall I contact (bother) my POI? I mailed Phil last week asking by when are the decisions made and he sent the generic reply that I will be notified when a decision is made. You received an acceptance mail, didn't you ?

Almost no activity! Are the offers over or am I just being impatient?

Painful days! I sleep everyday and hope the morning sun would bring some good news (yes I am from the other hemisphere) and all I see in my mailbox is junk, ads, Linkedin invites and anything that has nothing related to admissions. It gets real difficult to concentrate on work either!!! Ehh!

Don't want to sound pessimist but does that mean UT offers are almost over and I am going to get a last-remaining-bunch-generic-reject except some miracle happens. Anyone heard from Oklahoma?

Congrats GeoMex and everyone else who got in. Was following the discussion for few days but did not registered being naturally lazy. Hope the wait gets over soon for everyone, running out of patience!

I guess it is alright to contact people if the acceptances are not already out for many people. Example, if a school had the application deadline like 2nd Feb or so, it might be a good idea to contact people.
