Received an acceptance to Catholic University of America, on the wait list for funding. Hoping this works out!
-
Looks like one acceptance went up today.

That's interesting about UWO. And good luck to you at CUA. What are your interests?
-
Does anybody know what is going on at UWO? I'm beginning to get anxious about having so many apps out still. Toronto is a presumed rejection at this point, same with UT Austin. Still, no word from UWO's MA in Ancient Philosophy, no word yet from Catholic University of America. St. Louis University's deadline was February 15th, and on their website they said to anticipate notifications mid-March so no surprise there. Just seems late in the season to still not have heard, even if they are rejections from 5 schools.

Thanks for the insight. I agree their department is trending upwards and wouldn't be surprised to see it make top 50 in the next few years. Additionally, while they are losing Kvanvig to WUSTL, they have just announced the hire of John Haldane, analytic Thomist. I believe this will improve their programs standing significantly. Baylor is losing Kvanvig to WashU and Roberts is retiring. With these losses comes to hire of John Haldane. See PDF about the hire here: http://www.baylor.edu/philosophy/doc.php/240802.pdf Baylor seems to be a good place for aspiring Thomists to study, specifically with Thomas Hibbs as affiliated faculty, Francis Beckwith, Alexander Pruss, and now John Haldane. Surprising since I have heard Baylor called the "Baptist Vatican". I hope to get off the waitlist there to study with all of these people. -

Thanks for posting this. The correlation has been drawn between top 5, 10, and 15, as far as placement goes but my question is, what about the schools that are merely inserted by the advisory board? Schools like Baylor, who have placement but primarily to small liberal arts colleges are 'unranked' and yet they seem to be suggested every year. When a school like Baylor is suggested for so many areas, is it likely they will be on top 50 soon? -
Rejected by Marquette, another great fit for my interests.

Rejected at Yale. Checked website and saw a decision had been made at the bottom of the page. Link to decision was a generic letter with rejection.

Rejected from Boston College PHD. Accepted to Boston's MA, most likely unfunded since no offer of funding came with the acceptance. Emailed DGS to inquire about the logistics of an unfunded offer and inquire if I can be put in contact with students that also have received unfunded offers to see if there is any precedent about receiving funding after the first year. Disappointing, BC was a good fit.

can anyone confirm the Cornell that just went up?
-
Cornell: 2014 - Feb 28. Last week of Feb, Friday 2013 - Feb 25-26. Last week of Feb, Monday 2012 - Feb 27-28. Last week of Feb, Monday 2011 - Feb 23. Last full week of Feb, Wednesday 2010 - Feb 23. Last full week of Feb, Tuesday If I was a betting man, I'd wager we should hear from Cornell today or Friday. To your second question, some schools have an internal waitlist. A stack of people they don't want to reject but they for whatever reason don't publicize their waitlist. As such it could still be a rejection or an acceptance but you might not know for a bit. I doubt that they have not looked at your application prior to sending out notifications of any sort, but I may be wrong. It seems to vary greatly by school.
-
You never know. That's what I keep telling myself. I mean, my very first notification was a waitlist at Baylor and then its been all rejections since including to an MA. Anything can happen.
-
Also received a rejection from TAMU (MA). Kindly worded but generic email from them. Strange - for some reason this rejection really bothered me. I wasn't a great fit at TAMU, but just knowing it was an MA that I was rejected from and not a Ph.D. I guess.
-
Rejection via website via email from Fordham. Generic email to check for a decision - website had a letter with regret.

I have heard roughly 30%

Was it from a (dot) edu address? Was it from an edu address?
-
Very happy for you! When did you hear?

Didn't last year they have some serious issues with funding? I thought I remembered them refunding everyones application fees. Curious to see how their rankings are affected by having no incoming class last year potentially and what happens this year. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
-
That is what I'm also trying to figure out. I don't see any acceptances this year specifying ancient, medieval, CPAMP, etc, so I'm not sure if people just didn't specify if they were offered admission to that program or if nobody applying for that program was admitted or if it is a separate adcom/time.
-
I see you have Toronto in red in your signature. Is that a presumed rejection, or have you heard from the department? I am curious because I applied for their Ancient and Medieval Collaborative Program and have not heard anything yet, my application status is still "under review". I don't know if they have a separate adcom for this program or the same adcom. Similarly, I haven't heard any news on consideration for their masters program yet.
-
I like to think that after adcoms finish stamping the final application that they head to the bar for drinks and pour one out for all the rejections.
-
Congratulations! Same here. I would much rather just receive a rejection via email than be told to suspend my disbelief and check the website.
-
Rejected by Brown. Looks like somebodys got a case of the mondays.
-
Just checked my app status with chicago and saw that the rejection. Hope you have better luck.

Rejected by Loyola Chicago. No email update or anything yet, but checked status on website and saw that an update had been made, followed the link for a very generic rejection. 0a/1r/1w out of 14
