  1. Just accepted an offer from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. :-)
  2. I just removed myself from waitlists at UMD and Ohio State. Hope that helps someone!
  3. Officially rejected from Toronto via e-mail.
  4. Officially rejected by USC via e-mail to check their site.
  5. Rejected from Michigan as well.
  6. Yup. Received it about half an hour ago. There have been similar posts (i.e., about receiving rejection e-mails from Arizona) on the applications Facebook group today.

  8. Not sure. If I got into the University of Michigan, I'd almost certainly choose to go there instead. How about yourself? There was a wait-list posted on the Grad Cafe feed a while back. I haven't heard anything official yet either. I guess I'm being a little pessimistic by already listing it as "presume rejected," but then again, given the actual odds of getting in anywhere perhaps they should all be labeled as such.
  9. I was just wait-listed at Ohio State. I'll wait to see if it turns into an acceptance, but (assuming I'm not admitted anywhere else) I will likely turn them down in favor of University of Wisconsin–Madison.
  10. I was just wait-listed at University of Maryland. I'm apparently the "number two philosophy of mind candidate on our waitlist." The e-mail says they'll likely make an offer later (if movement on the waitlist in the past is any indicator). I'll likely turn them down given the acceptance from Wisconsin–Madison, but I'll wait to see if it becomes an actual offer of acceptance first. Anyone else wait-listed?
  11. Not sure. I'm one of the earlier acceptances. I did however just get a personalized e-mail from Elliott Sober. He says he'd be happy to work with me, and that Shafer-Landau's work (who is returning to Madison) seems like it would be "right up your alley."
  12. Congrats! That's quite the first response. They have a great program. Also, for the IU HPS waitlists: Please e-mail me if you want to discuss the program here.
  13. I wish. Nope, I'm leaving the program with another MA (this time in HPS). If I didn't get in anywhere, I intended to stay and finish out the program. But now that I've been accepted somewhere, I'm definitely taking the MA and leaving after this semester. Getting two PhDs, however, is not hugely uncommon. For example, Massimo Pigliucci has two, and I have a friend who (relatively) recently got a PhD in Neuroscience from MIT and afterwards got a PhD in Philosophy from NYU. She's wicked smaht.
  14. I'm also one of the Wisconsin acceptances. Super relieved to get one this early in the season. Congrats to everyone else!
