sorry, have to agree with piglet. I opened this bc it says perspective instead of prospective. but yeah, try to get experience in the field between your studies. your gpa is average so you're going to need to beef up your resume as much as possible.

they're both fantastic schools. but if you intend to live in California in the future, you might as well get your training and license here too. Columbia has a beautiful campus and I'd recommend actually living in NY and doing your field work there if you choose it, although you said it's not feasible for you right now. with what you've said, it sounds like USC is where you should be. good luck!

@happiness - thanks so much yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm going to Dominguez Hills. I think it's going to be a great fit for me. & good luck with LB. sending good thoughts to everyone. I'm ready for this whole thing to be over so we can all just get to working and learning. this stress these past few months has been far from enjoyable.

I got my pending email this morning. I'm pretty sure I was one of the last apps because I sent it on the last day. not sure if I even care at this point, but I know others are interested in the general process, so I thought I'd share. good luck guys

@saidy I applied for mental health, but I changed to child welfare so I can apply for the CalSWEC stipend. I didn't know they were still accepting applications, but I guess since the acceptances came so late, not too many people applied.

I got my acceptance to CSUDH on May 11. I applied at the end of January. They gave me a week to respond. I accepted and I'm about 90% sure I'm going here. I accepted at CSUF as well because of time-constraints, but I'm ready for a change of pace (I grew up down the street). Congrats to my fellow Toros

Dang, I got that same email February 24th. Guess I'm out :/

kurkz- sounds like you need an escape real bad with so many negative remarks about where you're from! USC is going to be a great place for you. having lived in LA my entire life, I just don't see the appeal. I could point out 50 negative things, but that won't change the place. It'll just make it worse in my mind. I've wanted to live in NY since I was 13, so I guess I'm jumping at the thought of crossing that off my bucket list. you never know, I may end up as one of those crazy people who love it there seems to be a bunch of those around. plus my best friend is going with me, so it's definitely going to be an adventure. different strokes for different folks, as they say. good luck to you

is anyone moving to NY from the west coast for their MSW? if so, can you tell me your reasoning and how you feel about the move? thanks -
alex bo balex, I sent my transcripts well before I finished my application. I had originally sent them to that wrong address they had on the MSW FAQ, and they were returned to me as 'non-deliverable." this gave me ample time to figure out what went wrong and re-submit to the other address. I have no knowledge about not sending your transcripts before sending the application. I did that and all was well. so that information seems false (that person also sounded like they were having a bad day; nothing for you to take personally). if you do see these as signs for you not to continue on, fair enough. but don't talk yourself out of it unless you're sure. sometimes the effort is worth it good luck!!

yep, I'm the same as sunnyskies. I received my admission to the university email a couple days ago and then today, I received admission from the department. they stated that they don't need to interview me, but if I'd like to meet with the department chair, I can make an appointment. orientation isn't until August. good luck to those still waiting
-
Caz- I was accepted to the full time program
-
so sunnyskies, does it mean we're in and their timing is just off?
-
well technically, if it lets us accept admission and pay our deposit online and it specifies the department we've been accepted into, they can't really decline us after that. that would be an error on their part, and they'd have to accommodate us. pretty sure that'd be a very straightforward petition if something went wrong.
