  1. I am still on the waitlist but I did accept an offer at another school, but that offer is just part time! So if I have a better opportunity I would look at withdrawing.
  2. I went to an open house at Armstrong in November, and I loved it there! The professor who ran it was really nice, and I thought the campus and clinic was beautiful!! If I was accepted here, I would be going! I got waitlisted here too! I don't know much about the process though, sorry!
  3. I totally understand... Last semester I retook Intro: Comm Disorders which at I had gotten a B+ in at my old school, and then this semester I am taking Language Disorders and Language Science because my school didn't have these classes or different versions of them. My main goal was really to get to know some professors and the program at Mercy, and then also be able to show other schools that I am committed to sticking with speech. I actually work part time at Mercy in the athletics department so I was able to get some of the credits paid for which was a main reason I was able to retake classes, so I totally understand the money part. But I really think it helped me! I haven't gotten accepted anywhere else yet, but waitlisted at 5 other schools. Special Ed was my back up plan as well, but if your heart is in speech I think you should keep trying!!
  4. When I graduated with my undergrad my GPA was a 3.2 but this past year I was able to retake classes at mercy to boost it up a little... I retook 3 classes and got As in all of them so I'm not sure how that factors into my GPA. I think it definitely helped as far as making my application more personal and the professors got to know me as a student! I applied for the full time track but only got accepted as part time which I am totally fine with! Maybe look to retake some classes? I really think that helped me!
  5. I received an email around 8pm saying that I was accepted to the part-time program!!
  6. Waitlists are better than rejections! .. I still have yet to hear! What is going on!
  7. Congrats!!!! That is so awesome!! Such a relief I bet!!!
  8. Hey guys.. Have you heard any news from mercy? It's the last school I'm waiting to hear from! I interviewed a month ago!! I saw some people had been accepted but just a handful. I'm so anxious! Haven't had an acceptance yet
  9. Yes it was so much work! Thought if I could just get into 1 it would be worth it, but looks like were moving onto Spring 2016 :(
  10. I'm not giving up hope, but I have 2 more schools to hear from and it's not looking too good When is a good time to start your spring 2016 applications? When is it appropriate to ask professors for more LOR?
  11. Hi everyone, I am wondering all the same questions as you guys! It's my second time applying and I decided to go big and just apply to 25 schools! As of now I have been rejected from almost all .. Wait listed at 4 and still waiting to hear from 4 schools (2 of which did interviews so I'm sure they are rejections!). I graduated 3 years ago with my bachelors in speech and hearing disorders and have been working at a special needs preschool for 2 years. Unfortunately, NY does not allow SLPAs !! I don't know what else to do to boost my application... After not getting in last fall I retook the GREs, revised my statement, I even enrolled in a local college to retake undergrad communication classes to boost my GPA which has been successful!! And I currently work in the field! I am going to start making my list of spring 2016 schools and give it one more try... It is just so stressful In the meantime, some of you mentioned that you are SLPAs, I was wondering how you go about getting your SLPA license and which states you are from? I have the flexibility to move so I figured I could look into it!
  12. Exactly! I was just stating that the wait is going by slow. I am ready for the stress to be over, and move on with whatever the decisions are!
  13. Thank you so much! I checked and the application status just said "referred" so I don't know if that is good or bad :/
  14. Another rejection from University of South Alabama... Honestly getting so discouraged
  15. Aw I am glad to hear it! Yes I am basically in the same boat with work, classes, and applying -- so stressful! Good luck on your interviews, that is very exciting!! And I am sure you are going to do great! Did you have your Mercy one yet? I was wondering when they are going to be done interviewing and when their decisions are coming out... I am so anxious now!!
  16. I know I saw maybe 2 people post that they were accepted to East Tennessee State University, has anyone heard anything else from them or know when they are sending out decisions?
  17. Oh man, yeah the wait is killing me because I keep thinking about stuff I should have put in my application, were my essays good enough, did I pick the right schools to apply too? I feel insane!! Haha I never had an interview at liu-post so I'm assuming that is a rejection! I applied to northwestern as well! I picked schools I thought were easier to get into and ones that didn't have crazy intensive application processes and then ones in areas I thought I wouldn't mind moving too! This is my second year applying so after last year I set a wide net out! I just keep telling myself, you only need 1!!!
  18. I applied to schools all over! But around downstate NY I applied to Mercy College, LIU-post, Adelphi, and William Patterson. I was already denied from Adelphi though . What schools did you apply too? I just want to hear from everyone already!!
  19. I applied to 25!! So far: 4- rejections, 1- interview, and 1- wait list Just trying to stay positive as well! It's a long tough road this application process, I think it builds character just going through it!!!
  20. Yup it was a group interview with other students and the staff! When is your interview?
  21. Elisas390, The writing sample was just a general question about yourself, not about speech. It was just a one page, brief statement. Not bad at all. And the interview was very relaxed, they were all very nice. They mostly just wanted to get to know you, and asked experience questions. They asked no questions about actual class information... No anatomy or anything. Just be yourself and it will be fine! Good luck in your interview!!
