I have the same question! I've looked and looked but can't seem to find an answer. If anyone has, please let me know!

Hi fellow applicants, This is my first time applying for a DAAD award. I will be conducting a research project over the summer in 2017 in Germany and was advised to apply for the DAAD research grant. However, I'm wondering if I'd be a good candidate. The advisor I'll be working with is an esteemed professor and very well published. I am currently in my second year of graduate school (should have my MA by the end of Spring) and only have one publication under my belt thus far (a couple more in the works, but won't be published by the time applications are due). I'm new to DAAD but heard it's very competitive. Do I even stand a chance or should I set my sights - and energy - elsewhere? I'd appreciate any and all advice!

@RD0326, I live in Charleston and work at MUSC, and will be moving to Charlotte soon. BUT if MUSC had the program I was looking for, I'd stay here for sure. There's so much to do, it's a beautiful city with tons of beaches, festivals, events downtown, etc. MUSC has also been the best place I've ever worked and the students I've spoken with seem to be very happy. Since I haven't really experienced Charlotte yet I can't say too much about it in particular, but it doesn't seem as lively as Charleston. I'd come to Charleston if I had the chance. @TheMercySeat, I think for UNCC they are still in process... There are some people who have been offered acceptance but no guarantee on funding. I think that they are 1) Trying to figure out the funding situation (apparently something happened that messed it all up within the last couple months), and 2) Waiting to see who accepts and rejects their initial offers. My *guess* would be you're on the waiting list if you haven't heard from them yet.
