Wow...that never occurred to me. In all 3 of my previous rejections, I have always gotten a "score". One was quite low.... Also, I'm embarrassed to say that this is the first year that I used "Times New Roman" as the font, AND expanded the margins on the page to the allowable limit. I don't know why I was so hell-bent on using Helvetica.

I'm in Vancouver, and got my letter last Thursday.

Wow...I got mine in April. I can't find it, but maybe it was dated for February, and got lost in the mail? I don't know....

Hello Hi, yes, in the past I've received my "rejection" letter as late as the end of April. I don't know why the folks who haven't been forwarded to the national competition have to wait so long to find out, but the earliest I'd ever heard, if I recall, was the end of March. Interestingly, the rejection letter also includes the "score" for your application, which can be pretty sobering!

I applied as a direct applicant, since I'm studying in the UK. I received my letter yesterday, and for the first time in 4 applications I've been forwarded to the national competition. What now...? Are you suggesting that the chances of actual succeeding at the national is significantly reduced because I'm a direct applicant? Oy.

My MA supervisor, who has always written LoRs for me in the past, has just recently suggested I use a different referee for my SSHRC application. He suggested I might have more success using someone whose research aligns with mine, and someoe who has worked with me more recently (I did my MA with him 12 years ago!). The only issue is that SSHRC asks for the MA supervisor to write a letter, no? I'm not sure what to do, and so I contacted my current external examiner for my PhD (who knows me through other work in the field), and is happy to write a LoR for me. He's a better option by far, and well known in my field, but he's not my MA supervisor. Of course my current PhD supervisor is writing me a letter, but will it be an issue if my MA supervisor is not my second referee?

I appreciate the short-winded answer, and I think I agree with you, but just wondering what you're basing this on.

Hi. Is it necessary and/or possible to fill out the CCV for a SSHRC doctoral fellowship? I see that the SSHRC application still has all of the same questions as usual, and doesn't ask or provide an option (as far as I can tell) re: how/when/where to upload/import/migrate the CCV. Thanks
