Received mine at 4:49PM on the extranet. Unfortunately, a rejection. Committee 3 So seems like some are coming out after 4:30PM. Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to those who received good news!

Good luck! I was wait-listed unfortunately.

You can contact the Research Officer for results.

http://www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca/funding-financement/programs-programmes/fellowships/doctoral-doctorat-eng.aspx#a6 This spells out the process fairly well for both direct and uni-based applications. For those of us applying through a quota'd university, to be 'forwarded' means we've made it to step 4.

Thanks!! I got two emails, one from SSHRC with an application number and one from the University.
-
Just received notice that my application was forwarded to the national competition

Accepted York's offer
-
Congrats! Yup, I received the standard FGS offer email mentioning a minimum funding package of ~$22.5k and a congratulatory email from the dept. I contacted Prof. Walsh and he let me know of my rejection. I exchanged a few emails with him and from the sounds of it, the admissions committee has more or less wrapped up and made their decisions known. Very few positions, tons of applicants, and limited faculty interest in the history of technology all worked against me. Not exactly surprised by it.

I popped into the IHPST office on Friday and was told me that offers will be 'trickling out over the next couple of weeks.' So, no new information really. Cruel bit of hope and more waiting, haha.

That I am!

In general, I'm interested in the cultural history of technology and technological imaginaries, with a particular focus on Canada during the Cold War. I'm drawn to technologies that Canada has used in an attempt to construct a 'unique' identity, create the perception of control over its frontiers, and demand levels of recognition/sovereignty from global powers. Currently working with Edward Jones-Imhotep and would continue on with that if I decide to stay at York for my PhD. There is definitely a good selection of profs to work with based on your interests, with Aryn, Natasha, and Ernie allowing you to address it from a sociological, anthropological, and historical viewpoint. Denielle Elliott would be another possibility. I'm not sure if Aryn has mentioned it to you yet, but this 4S/EASST track will probably post up a few papers that will be of interest to you once finalised: http://www.nomadit.co.uk/easst/easst_4s2016/panels.php5?PanelID=3930

Congrats to you too! Thanks!

First acceptance under my belt, so that is a nice bit of relief. I have a feeling the rest will keep me waiting well into March though.

Stress levels increasing...
-
Primarily, I'm interested in the state’s (in particular, Canada and peripheral powers during the Cold War) funding/use of technology and ritual to maintain a perception of control and sovereignty over its frontiers. I've also become increasingly interested in the nuclear narrative within Canada in the '50s and '60s.

Congrats!

These two have been keeping me company during those long, cold Canadian nights of application submitting and now waiting.

Ditto! Yeah, it was like this last year too. Not too many people within the STS thread, though the odd STSer could be found poking around within the history, anthropology, sociology, etc. threads. The programmes I applied to mainly had Jan 31/Feb 1 application closing dates, so I'm probably not going to hear back from them until early March (maybe very late February). None are even 'under review' yet... EDIT: Two have switched to 'under review' in the past 15 minutes. Congrats on acceptance!

Yup!

While Toronto lacks that joie de vivre of Montreal, it has its own charms you'll certainly come to love and curse!

Congrats on getting into the Art History PhD programme! Originally from Montreal, but I have been living in and around Toronto for a couple decades now. I did my BSc in Computer Science at York and now heading back to do my MA in Science and Technology Studies.

Thanks!

I just received my first acceptance! The wait and those application fees have finally become worth it. Time to catch up on 3 months of horrid sleep.

I just received an offer of admission to York for an MA in STS, though I am still waiting to hear back from UofT before I make my decision. My sigh of relief could have been heard throughout the GTA...
