  1. Hey Guys, Previous posts have been helpful, so if anyone can shed some insight I would GREATLY appreciate it. I heard back from my top choice. I was unofficially accepted, but they are still working out the funding (whether I have one or two years of initial funding). I want to be at this program more than words can say, and I really clicked with the POI. My second choice emailed me today, and mentioned he should hear back any day now from pending grants that would provide full funding (I assume). However, the funding would be with a topic I'm interested in, but I'm not too keen to work on (in comparison with choice one). He should let me know within a month. I have also been officially admitted to this school. I did my undergraduate here, and I would be thrilled to go back. However, other professors I know here advised me to take #1 if offered. So, should I email the POI back, saying I'm still interested (just to see whats on the table in case #1 falls short)? Also, if I do, should I mention that I have another offer pending? So confused right now..... Any insight is helpful!!!
  2. After reading this, I went and checked my top choice school. They are also on Spring Break..... soooo two more weeks of waiting?! I haven't heard anything in over a month....
  3. Hey everyone, I need to figure out if I am being annoying or not. Is it ok to email my potential adviser, and check on my admission status? I found out I made the finalist round over a month ago, and I have not heard anything back. He felt like I would be admitted, but since it's been so long I'm starting to worry. Any thoughts? I was supposed to find out late Feb/early March. Also, here is a sample of my email: Good Morning Dr. XXXXXX, I hope that my email finds you doing well and surviving the numerous winter storms. I just wanted to touch base with you and see if you have heard anything about the status of admissions. It has been over a month since I have heard anything; I found out on February 6th that I made the finalist round, and I sent in all of my official transcripts the following week. I apologize if I am being bothersome, but I a very curious to know the status of my admission. Thanks, and have a great day! -Me
  4. "In the end, it doesn't even matter" (Virginia Tech, Engineering PhD) ".....this has been rough" (University of Marylad, Political Science, PhD) "Seven years of college down the drain, might as well join the Peace Corps..." (Ohio State University, History PhD) I feel for everyone-I'm still waiting to hear accepted/rejected.... Also-there must be a lot of internet traffic on the results page right now-mine is slowww to load. Anyone else experiencing this? A wave of anxiety ridden folks...

  6. Now that it's March, we (I know myself at least) should hopefully hear ANY DAY NOW!!
  7. Another Friday over.... and still nothing. Maybe next week?
  8. If I could knit-I would. Netflix is happening every night though..... No snow here so that isn't an option.... but, I'm with you on rereading a favorite book. That is a great idea. I'm still in school, but building with legos...... I do that every morning anyways..... but I agree with you. I would be even worse off if I didn't. Exercise HAHA it's true though. But maybe try doing something else? It's good to find something that helps you deal with stress and anxiety (even though admission stress is way more intense). is great for stress relief... I almost want to go out and get some now....
  9. I'm a little late to the party (having just discovered this website and forums) but I'm so glad I found this thread!! Does anyone have any idea what 'early March' is? I am supposed to know 'Late February, early March'. I know I made the finalist round for admission, but that was three weeks ago. So I am assuming I should hear literally any day now.
  10. Every day I get that. Parents, friends, co workers....which is great, but I feel the same way. If I don't get in, what then?! To make matters worse, all of my other grad student friends are started to get acceptances..... The agony of the wait!
  11. Trying to patiently wait for my results from my top choice. It literally could be any day now (I made the finalist round three weeks ago). So, today marks week three of stalking the acceptance board, hoping for some shred of hope. I know I am not alone it obsessively checking my email, this forum, etc., so I am trying to keep busy. Currently I am a masters of biology student, waiting to hear back about PhDs. I'm curious what everyone else is doing as a distraction? Last Friday, my anxiety was so bad I enjoyed a lovely two hour walk around campus (not productive, but calming). Two weeks ago, I added an N64 emulator to my computer to help calm my nerves. This week, it's posting on this forum, as well as reading through the science section of reddit. Maybe I can get some new ideas, as well as other folks who are patiently waiting. So, what odd things are you guys up to?? (it can't be just me)
  12. I literally have to leave my office because I'm checking my email so much..... I'm struggling. Any day now I should hear from my top choice. Another week has gone by and still nothing....
