For those interested: I just called Penn State and UPENN. Admissions decisions will be made by the end of the week. This seems to be the trend among CJ programs.
-
No one has responded to my emails yet.
-
Has anybody heard from any of their schools yet? I've emailed Cincinnati and South Carolina.

Things you'd hear at an AdComm meeting as a fly on the wall

Dr. Johnson: Guess what day it is? Dr. Reynolds: Hump DAAAAYYYY! Dr. Johnson: Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Guess what day it is? Dr. Andrews: Hump DAY! Dr. Smith: Hump Day! *Applicants* It' not even wednesday.... -
Good...at least provides some hope. Contacted University of Maryland today. Decisions by the end of the week, notifications by the end of next week.

Congratulations. I hate you.

Even worse when you're trying to figure out if you have to put your house up for sale or not...

I know that this is like asking why the sky is blue, but does ANYONE know why Crim programs take so much longer on their decisions than every other program??
-
OK. Thanks for the quick responses.

Fall 2014 PhD Programs

I did... mistake! -
Ha... can you tell I'm bored this morning? This is my 3rd new topic in 10 minutes. I'm looking to see what the average age of applicant is out there. I'm 36, to be 37 in April, which I thick is way up there in terms of entering a Ph.D. program. How about everyone else?

I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly... is it the applyweb homepage and then click "view checklist?"

I'm a first timer to this experience, so I'm not well-versed in why certain things happen. o far, what I have gleaned from this and other websites is that, for the most part, schools will pick 2-3 "first round definitely yes" candidates, and those candidates are offered admission immediately. This is followed by "yes," "waitlist," etc. I was very fortunate to be a "definitely yes" (I think), as I was offered admission on Jan. 26. However, there was no funding offered as of yet, whatsoever. Isn't it usually a given that someone who is offered admission that early also be offered funding of some sort?

This was my first week knowing about this website and spending every seeking moment on it. I truly regret the fact that I know about this place, as my stress level has skyrocketed.

Does this mean acceptance? E-mail from my interviewer

Sounds good, though I would be hesitant to work with someone named Dr. X. -

"He really doesn't seem a good fit. Waitlist him for 3 weeks then set up an interview. 2 weeks later send out a generic rejection." *Diabolical laughter* -

Actually, I just reread it a little more analytically. It appears that he would like you in the program, but that he has nothing to do with admissions and decisions. I rescind what I said. Hold out hope and pray. -

That is a very oddly worded letter. However, I would guardedly take it as an acceptance. -
Fall 2015 PhD Acceptance/Rejection Thread

If anyone is wondering, I just heard from the Associate Grad Coordinator at University of Florida. They are still reviewing applications. I originally emailed the admin and she replied to me that she was forwarding the email to him... In my head I was saying "NOOOOOOOO!" I really didn't want him to see that I was emailing. -
January 30: "Ok, so we have all of our decisions? Good. Write a batch email and set it to send on April 14."
-
I see you're from MA, too. I'm from Danvers. Got one acceptance so far (my VERY FIRST notice, thank God!) to UMASS for Ph.D. in CJ. Not a real big fan of staying in MA, though.

I just did... I didn't know that jot even existed. Thanks for the redirect.
