  1. Thanks, and don't give up hope yet. Best of luck to you too!
  2. Sorry, I posted this over at TM as well and I see you're over there as well. Not sure which is the stronger program. Both seem to place their best placed (upper quartile) students well, but perhaps NYU places better in the lower quartile. How did you conclude that NYU is more quantitative? Courses? I hadn't heard that before. I think CMU has CS factuly that work with Tepper, making it the better program for me (queueing in CS contexts is very related to my interests as is algorithmic game theory). I suppose Stern's ties to Courant (which may be to applied math what CMU's school of computer science is to CS in terms of reputation and quality of research output) may make the OM program more appealing to the quantitatively oriented, such as yourself (though I should add that my research interest is very quantitative as well). What do you feel are the other "top" PhD programs in OM besides these two and MIT Sloan?
  3. ORGuy, I also applied to NYU Stern's IOMS and haven't heard anything yet. Don't think anyone has yet. But as you said, there was nothing posted on the results search page for all of 2009, so who knows. martizzle, I heard back from CMU (OM, not OR), and I think as with many small business school programs, they wait for their admits to make a decision, and if the admits turn down their offer they try to use those freed up slots to offer admissions to some more applicants, so even if you haven't heard back and others have, there should still be a chance of getting an admission in late March or early April. By the way, doesn't anyone have an opinion on NYU Stern's OM program versus CMU Tepper's?
  4. Although stipends vary by discipline I would imagine location would affect them even more. Also, be sure to factor in cost of living when evaluating stipends/awards once you get the numbers.
  5. I was talking about PhD, sorry for not clarifying. Best of luck to you on getting into the MS program!
  6. Did anyone else apply to the MIT Operations Research center? Someone posted in the results that they were rejected by e-mail today, and another person (perhaps the same person?) reported that they had been invited to a phone interview earlier in the week. I've not heard anything yet, isn't it odd for a rejection to go out before acceptances (or perhaps some acceptances are out and those people just don't use this site or haven't posted yet).
  7. Ah sorry, I really don't know anything about marketing. Good luck to everyone!
  8. I got accepted into USC for operations management. They told me a while back that they had nominated me for the provost fellowship (there was no interview) and that I would be in for sure, either way. As it turns out, I didn't get the fellowship (but two Marshall applicants did), however they told me they would try to match the fellowship's stipend through other means. I'm visiting tomorrow. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what "CB or quant" means.
  9. I finally decided to start a forum about Fall 2010 UC Berkeley EECS applications, so we don't have multiple post discussions on the Results Search. I applied to EE COMNET, got a phone interview (which lasted for about 20 minutes), and was late informed by the professor that it was now in the hands of the committee (now being last Friday). I haven't heard back from him (or from anyone at Berkeley) since. Anyone else heard back? If so what decision, how, and which track? As far as I know, they've already decided, but I'm still reluctant to e-mail my professor and ask him how it went. I imagine they're not informing everyone officially until they determine what kind of funding everyone gets, who gets which fellowship, etc., but I could be wrong. Anyway, discuss and report!
  10. I've been following this thread, but I finally decided to register on The GradCafe Forums. My interests are game theory and queueing theory, so it made sense for me to apply to a few operations research and operations management programs. I applied for operations management at: CMU Tepper (I also applied for ACO here, since there is a CS professor I'd like to work with) NYU Stern USC Marshall (accepted!) I applied for operations research at: MIT Operations Research Center I've already gotten into USC Marshall (and have been nominated for a fellowship; which is probably why I heard back early), so that's pretty exciting, and I'm waiting to hear back from the others. I don't have any publications yet, but one of my advisors and I have a draft of something ready that we want to submit to Performance Evaluation. Majored in math and econ; GPA: 3.5; GRE: 800 Q, 710 V, 6.0 AW; LoR: should have two strong ones and one decent one
