We have this assignment where we have to critique a research article for its issues, pros and cons of methodologies, etc. I've found a lot of "pros", but what are considered as "cons" and "limitations"? Is there a website or source that you would recommend that teaches how to find these issues? Also, I can't tell if the research article is qualitative, quantitative or mixed. It says that open-ended interview questions were asked to participants, but it also says when results are presented in quantified form, the total number of interviewees sometimes varies between questions". Does this mean it is a mixed methods study?

Curious....what are reasons for a waitlist
gradapplicant15 replied to gradapplicant15's topic in Waiting it Out
Cool, thanks! -
What is the usual deadline to accept early admission offers?
-
Is it so the school can track how many more are still interested? Im just wondering why schools don't just have a private 1st batch, then 2nd batch, and so on without even waitlists.

Recommendation Letters. WHATTT
gradapplicant15 replied to docjourney's topic in Letters of Recommendation
How do you approach the professors for a strong recommendation letter? If you are a current student and you are doing well in class, just go to their office hours and ask. If they agree, also ask if they would require some documents from you (i.e. transript, letter of interest, etc). If you are a former student, send them an email first to ask if you can meet with them. How do you know if they like you or not? Just meet with them and ask. If they are unable to write a strong letter, I think they will let you know. Who should you ask for recommendation letters? In your case, perhaps clinical psychology professors? I'm not in Psychology, so am not sure. How long before applications? I would suggest to ask 3 months in advance so profs can have enough time and not feel rushed. If they agree to write, contact them once in a while to remind about letter deadline. -
Are applicants ranked by qualifications? Or "first come, first serve"? Admissions said she can't tell me yet when a space is available. (I think first offers went out this week). I've also contacted higher-up, and was told Im very high on the list. What does this all mean?

At my grad school, I think the first batch of offers were sent out this week. How long would it take for the next round?

Thanks. What about programs that don't require interviews? -
Just got that scary thought :/ Can grad students be part of the Admissions Community?
-
Maybe check up with Admissions about your status?
