  1. Mental Health and Health is the most competitive one while Gerontology stream usually receives least applicants.....
  2. Good luck everyone if you are on the waiting list of York MSW, don't panic, you still have a really good chance get into the program!!!
  3. Good luck to everyone who wish to attend MSW in 2016, here is the unofficial stats for 2015 MSW admission in three Toronto universities that offer MSW program( based others estimation only, not confirmed with school authorities, I don't hold responsibility for the accuracy of this data . don't PM me about where I get the numbers from ) U of T, acceptance rate 1 in 11 for two years program, 1 in 4 for one year program (both full time and part time) York, acceptance rate 1 in 28 for two years program, 1 in 2.5 for one year program (both full time and part time) Ryerson, acceptance rate 1 in 4 for one year program (Full time)
  4. Here is the thing, Carleton has 10 people on wait list but they only going to accept 20 students per year. U of T put 40 students on waitlist but they have 80 spots. The odd is almost the same....
  5. Three out of four of my classmates got into the program from waitlist.... but that was in 2010. i don't know this year tho....
  6. U of T usually has about half number of the accepted applicants on the waitlist, for example, if they offer 100 spots for advanced standing MSW, they reserve 50 on the waitlist..... York always has 20 students on the waitlist for advance standing MSW, and 10 for the two year program. from what I heard. Good luck everyone!
  7. From York University website: "It changes from year to year. Most recently we admitted 20 students to the Two-Year Program, 40 students to the Advanced Standing Full-Time Program, and 20 students to the Advanced Standing Part-Time Program. We received approximately 750 applications for all these program collectively-the most being for the Two-Year Program." so if you applied for York 2 year MSW program, the admission rate is 25 to 1...... Meanwhile, the average admission rate for Ontario Medical schools is about 4 to 1.....
  8. It really depends which school you applied for.. if you GPA is only 3.7 and don't have research paper published, but you have extensive work experience and a memeber of socially disadvantaged group(s), then you chance of getting into York or Ryerson is much higher than UofT.
  9. U of t asks for three references, one from course instructor, one from placement coordinator or supervisor ( can be your placement course instructor as wel), and one from your employer or research supervisor. if your research supervisor can provide you with a good recommandation letter, I think that can really help you get into the program, All three referees should hold at least a master degree, and at least one of them should have PHD/MD degree. U of T is very strict about the education level of your referees.
  10. we usually need to take two research courses in most of social science programs, As long as you have one course that says "A" or 3.7 above, you are fine. U of T doesn't care what research course you take, can be quantative or qualitative or just general stats...
