I am an African-American woman and in my whole department for SLP in the undergraduate and graduate level there are only 2 of us! We are clearly the minority in graduate school but also in the field of SLP. I think it is because not many people of color know or understands what SLPs do. Most people I talked to think I am studying public speaking or communications. In most of my classes it is only two people of color (my friend and I).

Hi ChristinaG! I have a few questions! Seeing that you've been there for a few years do you have any advice on housing, like where to live either on campus or off and in which neighborhoods? And how is starting the program in the summer...I am a little nervous about that part! I am excited about the renovations...it looks like it will be really nice and modern. And do you know how many students in your cohort received funding?? Thank you so much again!

I haven't received anything else from them yet! I would really like to hear about funding because I heard they are fairly generous.

Congrats!!!!! I am touring the campus in a few weeks actually! When I was at ASHA I met with SLU and talked to a few of the current grad students and they loved it!!! What is your top choice??

I just want to post in here and say DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE! I had a Cum GPA of 3.28 CSD GPA of 3.78 GRE scores of 145/143/4.0 and I was just accepted to Saint Louis University!!!! It is not always about the stats!!! Stay positive!!!

I just received my first acceptance to my first choice Saint Louis University! I am so so so so happy! I am grateful that they looked past my low GRE scores! Hard work pays off! I can't believe I am going to grad school in the summer! Good luck to all and let the good news keep rolling!!!!

I totally agree!!! The application process was very strange and it took forever for someone to respond to me. I've even tried to reach out to current grad students but no one has responded its kind of suspicious ha. I also find it strange that their application deadline is not until May 2015...but congrats on getting into UMD that's awesome!

I think you're okay but it doesn't hurt to follow up and ask about the login ID. Try to remain calm I'm sure its nothing major but I would call or email them about the login ID or maybe you will hear by the end of the week! When did you submit your application?

I did my research on the school before I applied and I did see that same statistic but I really want to be in th DC area without paying too much. I just wanted to hear from someone who has either been through their program or knows something more about it. As of late I keep finding people post negative things about the program but they never elaborate so it's just curiosity at this point. Thanks for replying!

Does anyone know anything about UDC's program? I saw someone post on the results page not to apply here and that the drop out rate is extremely high...if anyone has any insight on this program I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm in the same boat as you!! I didn't see a wait list I only saw two acceptances and that made me nervous! I checked the portal and it hasn't been updated. I'm not even sure where to look. I'm not sure if the send out notifications in waves it's not a super huge program so I would assume that they didn't. Keep hope alive!

Has anyone heard back from any schools in Florida yet...specifically FSU or University of Florida?
