  1. Congrats on the acceptance! I do believe that there is a possibility if you work full time. Maybe working 4-7 at private clinics and such. NYU was not the only distance program I applied to, and I know from those experiences that those clinic times were not flexible either. The other programs were also 5-8 weeks of summer time at campus. I feel like if you live in a large enough city with many places to choose from, then NYU would not mind being flexible. I think it is more difficult for NYU to find placements for students who live in smaller cities and have less clinics and schools to choose from.
  2. I did mine individually, but I have known others have the call with a few others as well. They will go over 2nyu and albert. Answer questions about courses, talk about going to NYC briefly for clinic, and talk about your courses just briefly.
  3. If your plan of study consists of being part time and with very little undergrad courses you need to take then you should be on the same track as me. it looks like right now I will go 4 days in Jan. 2018 and then again in May or June! Then Fall 2018 start real clinicals!
  4. I agree with the person above. Most clinics that you will work under are Monday-Friday 9-5. Also think about the school portion, which will be more like 8-3. I do not think it would be possible in ANY SLP grad program. NYU for online and part-time is 7 semesters. The first two semesters have no clinical time. The 3rd and 4th semester includes the clinic bombardment at NYU. The 5th, 6th, and 7th semesters will be 2 or 3 days a week. The last semester will be the most hours. With this schedule I can personally work 30 hours a week, but I do work from home and make my own schedule.
  5. Congrats! I start in May as well. Did you join the FB group?
  6. From what I understand, they do not having rolling admissions. But I also do not think they fill up. If you get in you get in.
  7. I would ask to talk to Alana Lovett. She was very helpful. I have not even spoken with my academic counselor yet, and I know she would be very helpful for this dispute. Her name is Erin. Tell them that you need to verify before you commit!
  8. Do you know anyone else who got in, who has the exact same courses as you? A girl I knew got one prereq that did not satisfy, but we had the same class so she argued it and it turned out she did not need to take out. If you have 23 courses completed, I would be shocked you needed much else. I have my second bachelors from usu, so I only need to take Neuro. I start in may! There is also a FB group now that is very helpful. Maybe ask on there! the link is posted above
  9. amsullivan- did you join our fb group yet? https://www.facebook.com/groups/343412579327909/
  10. All accepted class of 2019 students please join our facebook page. We would love to keep connected during our classes! https://www.facebook.com/groups/343412579327909/
  11. The clinicals are two visits, which are 4 day weekends each. They told me Thursday-Monday approx. They do not help with any housing, but will give info on hotels that have special pricing for NYU and within walking distance. I already plan on sharing a hotel room with another student.
  12. Someone posted on the grad cafe board that they got denied with a 3.6 155/150/4. NYU is more competitive than I originally thought!
  13. Once my application was submitted 100%, it took 1.5 weeks. I know they tell everyone 3 weeks. Do consider that 3 weeks is such a short time to know. Most people complete their applications for other schools in December and January and will not know anything until April. I think NYU is working quickly on these applications.
  14. Congrats! I made a FB group for the May cohort, but there are other january students on there. Join! https://www.facebook.com/groups/343412579327909/
  15. It should take 2-3 weeks for your writing score to appear. I would say Nov. 10 is just fine for that deadline!
  16. I cant tell you if you should apply or not, but the live program is what I actually like about this distance program. It seems like I will have real relationships with professors and my cohort. I will agree that the counselors are pushing people to apply, but that does not mean you will get accepted. NYU still wants strong applicants for their distance program. I do not think it would hurt to apply and see. I start in May so I do not know how the program is, but I have talked to another girl who started and is liking it so far.
  17. Congrats! I got in also! I am very excited. I applied for the May start date and I found out last week. Lindsay- we should connect on facebook, I am also a USU student
  18. The above poster is correct. I personally know this because I have asked many questions to the admission counselors, and even attended a webinar about the program that you can sign up to. The classes are live and you will be in class via webcam with the on campus students. I believe they say it is unlike any other for many reasons, some reasons to be very little clinical time on campus, and the live classes. If you do not attend these live classes, your grade will be lowered.
  19. I would try to make a set time for a phone call and if that is not a possibility, I am sure you can email back and forth. I do know that they ask specifics about your plans for work because you have to log in for classes live. I do know there are many evening classes available! I believe the original poster had similar GREs and a 3.3 GPA, but did not get into this school.
  20. This is actually not completely true. The cutoff for gre's are not 150 each for the distance program. They are accepting many students, and at this time they do not have a for sure answer regarding cap limits. I know of a girl who got in with stats with a GRE of 139-149-4. Her GPA was 3.9. The distance program will sit in on web conferencing with on campus students. To answer speechfan222- I am not sure if they would take your stats, they might. Have you talked to an admission counselor?
  21. I know a girl who got in recently- her stats from first bachelors 3.2, 3.9 from comd bachelors, and GRE: 139 quant, 149 verbal
  22. Thanks for your reply, I am sorry to hear this! I do not like that the admission counselor called you so much, then denied you in the end. My friend that called them told her to retake the GREs before applying, so I was hoping they were all honest. I was upfront to them about my low GRE scores and applying, and the counselor told me that my GPA was strong, so I should go ahead and apply and make sure to write strong essays. Now I am nervous lol.
  23. My experience has been pretty similar in regards to them wanting me to finish my application. My admission counselor never was rude or negative, but upbeat. Right away the counselor told me I had strong stats and that I should apply. This is my second round as well, got wait listed to all of my schools I applied to last year. The only sense of hope I had is when a fellow classmate called to ask about the program, they told her she needed to retake her GREs before she applied because they were too low. I have a strong GPA but weaker GRE scores. The admission counselors are confusing for sure, especially when other schools are turning students away left and right.
  24. I am interested to see if anyone has applied and received feedback on their program as well!
  25. Hi, I am curious on your update? I decided to start the application process for this school even though I am not happy about the price. Did you talk to an admission counselor beforehand or did you just apply?
