One School accepted me but with no Assistantship....that process has been rather confusing. I have always been told to not get my MFA unless its paid for. The other school emailed me this morning saying I am one of two finalists which is promising she said to hang on a couple more days. Aye Aye Aye. Just so you guys know there are schools I have found still aceepting apps! I subscribes to Artsearch and they post grad assistantships there as well!
I had a school ask if I was still intersted and to finish the application. I could sit here all day and try to predict what it means. I can't believe we started talking about this in the beginning of Feb and it is April now and no one really has great news to share. Tough Break!
thats the response I have been getting too.. I was fine for while but now I am like really? Haha Its fine, just cant plan my life until you tell me yes or no for God's sake.
I have heard back from two schools informing me they are still in the midst of making offers and no 2015 class has been set yet. Holding out hope. I have heard back from Michigan State reporting they had made their 3 female offers and all had been accepted. other than that no rejection letters to speak of yet. Ohio Iniversity stated they are still setting the class into April. As of right now No News=Good news I guess
Yes I was surprised to hear that Ohio University had given the offers they sent out a deadline of this Monday to decide, if they are holding out for another school that could work out in my favor. However, are you actually locked in once you accept?
I definitely agree with that. All of the schools I auditioned for discouraged you from applying until you had gotten an offer, So I have always been dealing directly with the department and not admissions. In the email I received yesterday she assured me things are usually not finalized until April.
MFA's for everyone! Probably a little different at schools in the midwest because people aren't DYING to study in freezing cold Ohio and Michigan They may have the time to be a bit more personal. I only followed up if it had been a good amount of time since they had heard from me. I want them to know I am serious, but not annoying haha.
I did get a reply email yesterday from Ohio University. Not one of their initial offers but only 1 of the 4 has been accepted so still hope there. However, just her kind email and knowing I was not immediately eliminated from consideration makes the whole experience worth it. She was so kind and thorough in her email with positive feedback on my audition. Its good to know that the things I think are most important when it comes to auditioning are noticed.
