  1. i also applied to sociology - it indeed might be that the subfield is taking longer than usual. do let me know if you hear anything; i will do the same.
  2. i am in the same situation - i would like to know my status with the sms application as soon as possible in order to finally have my options laid out and make a decision. i am not sure, though, how to interpret such a late notice. i hope it is not a sign of them being irresponsible towards the doctoral students. other schools got back way back, although they probably have the same or similar number of interested applicants.
  3. thanks a lot for that info. being at harvard, in the sense you described, is indeed a great asset. btw, i just had an email that i got accepted to johns hopkins phd in the department of health, behavior and society - only an informal email from a professor, though. good luck to everyone else.
  4. I applied there, too. I don't really know too much about the department, though. Would you be so kind as to just write a few words what you see as the strenghts of the SHDH at Harvard? Do you happen to know anyone's experience who actually did their PhD there? From my side, social epidemiology work that is being done in the department is the one thing I find the most appealing. Thanks
  5. thanks. it is actually a phone interview since i am an international applicant. i do have to say i did hope for them flying me over there for interview
  6. just got an invitation for an interview from the chair at duke. good luck
  7. hi just a quick note that i was just yesterday invited for an interview at yale (phd epidemiology and public health). don't know much details, but i am looking forward to it. it will be via skype, though. good luck
  8. hi all! i have been lurking for quite some time now on this forum, and this is the first time i am posting. i just wanted to let you know that i have been offered admission at university of Pennsylvania a week ago with guaranteed five years of full funding. there are no details yet about the financial arrangement - they said a letter from the dean is on the way spelling out all the details. btw, i am an international applicant in case anybody is interested. good luck!
