The SSHRC fellowship is 20,000 for either 1, 2, 3 or 4 years. The CGS is 35,000 for 3 years.

Hey everyone!
I emailed my grad secretary regarding my status. She told me I have been successful. I'm not sure which award I have received yet though. But just to point out for those waiting, I did not have any publications, only conferences (only one being peer reviewed). Therefore, it IS possible to get an award without pubs. I have to give most of the credit to my references, and a reformatted proposal from last year. I was in committee 3.

Hi All,
I received word from my GPD that I was given the CGS Bombardier award.
However, I will be going to the USA for my PhD and will not be able to bring my CGS with me, as I believe it can only be held in Canada. This means some of you on the wait list may have a chance because of me! :)???
Does anyone have any experience with this? What does it mean that I have to give up my CGS? Do I still put it on my CV etc? Can I downgrade my award to a regular SSHRC doctoral fellowship?

Hey all,
Long-time thread lurker here, and wanted to provide data for people looking at cutoffs and things. My score was 15.4 and I was awarded a Bombardier CGS. I don't know which committee by number, but my project is research-creation-based.

My letter came in today and I got the CGS with a score of 17, committee 4.

I'm gonna be the cynic, b/c that's what I've been reduced to. Because I've applied 2 years in a row and your fear is what's happened to me. I'm not gonna go into how it's screwed up every area of my life. But be prepared, it's so competitive your fears may be realized you may not get in. That's just the reality. That said, you're on this board and asking early and you're a talented undegrad. It's very common for people in your shoes to fear that and after a stressful year of doing all the bs that goes into the apps, they end up fine. That'll probably be you as long as you work hard and take the good advice offered on this board and other boards on grad cafe. Good luck.
