  1. Congrats as well! Hmmm... makes me wanna get my acceptance letter
  2. I am not sure. I applied for the Reynolds Fellowship and heard a similar date given for the responses. However, I would not guarantee admittance to those not receiving fellowships. I am in New York right now meeting with NYU Wagner admissions folks tomorrow. I am going to ask them a few questions as to when I will see a rejection letter in my hands...haha
  3. Hello! I see you're applying to Wagner... Have you heard anything yet?

  4. Agreed... I feel there is a way to do this. Using the "car salesman" approach saying that they need to give you full tuition plus stipend since you are being offered half-tuition at school X is not the way to go. I do think its appropriate to express your true feelings to the professors at the school you are looking into. Feelings such as concerns about funding, atmosphere, classes, and other questions you may have.
  5. Makes me wish I were on there... That is, I wish I had my decisions in hand...
  6. Agreed! Saying something of that nature makes you seem desperate to the adcomms or profs at that school. Most adcomms are looking for students who are 100% confident in there abilities/chances. Also, the faculty sitting on the adcomms are not stupid (although I like to think so sometimes ), so they know what you are getting at even if you don't tell them about your rejections from other schools. Wait it out, and you'll be fine!
  7. I agree with you, HopefullIR, hwoever I think it is dangerous to quantify those applicants into groupings based on the schools they applied to. I have heard this as well, the school asks what other schools you have applied to in order to fight for the best students with their competitors. However, just because Penn thinks they are a better school than DePaul (in my case) doesn't mean that I want to attend that school more. I might find DePaul to be better than Penn due to atmosphere, profs, etc. Therefore, they should not assume that. I know when I applied to NYU Wagner, they asked what other schools I was applying to and how I would rank them. This makes much more sense to me. However, when an adcomm takes 4 months to give you a decision, preferences for schools can change! Therefore, even this method is flawed in some respect. I dont know... They use this to determine admissions I believe, but I don't think they should.
  8. It is perfectly normal to still be checking these sources, for if they know that you were rejected, they would have let you know by now. It is hard to believe that the admissions committee would disclose a full and complete list of PhD admits to a student currently. Nah... as they say (whoever they is), its not over until the fat lady sings. You're not rejected until they tell you. Good luck!
  9. I emailed them and their representative told me they have been feverishly reviewing apps since December. Doesn't make sense to me, however, nothing makes sense anymore...
  10. I am hoping in the next couple of weeks the Wagner will start sending out their admissions offers... Is that a logical timetable?
  11. If I am accepted with no funding, someone will be receiving my spot as well...
  12. Ohhhhh..... I wish it were March. I cannot stand the anxiety anymore!
  13. Currently, the best fit school for me is NYU's Wagner School... However, whichever school responds with the best financial incentives will shoot to the number one position.
  14. Program Applied To: MPP, IR Schools Applied To: NYU Wagner University of Pennsylvania Seton Hall Whitehead DePaul University Ohio Northern University (J.D.) Schools Admitted To: Seton Hall Whitehead Schools Rejected From: None...yet! Still Waiting: NYU Wagner University of Pennsylvania DePaul University Ohio Northern University Undergraduate institution: Bluffton University (Ohio) Undergraduate GPA: 3.62 Last 60 hours of Undergraduate GPA (if applicable): 3.77 Undergraduate Major: History/ Political Science GRE Quantitative Score: 620 GRE Verbal Score: 530 GRE AW Score: 4.5 Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): Years of Work Experience: 2 Describe Relevant Work Experience: I have worked for the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity planning projects. I have also done two internships with a Crime Victims' Advocacy organization. Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): Strength of LOR's (be honest, describe the process, etc): I had my two LOR's come from my history professors, who are well regarded in their field. I expect they wrote excellent recommendations for me. I had a third written by my internship supervisor at CVA (where I interned for a year). I know for a fact he wrote a stellar recommendation. Other: I have been very active on campus, leading the student government, serving on the executive committees of three other organizations, and serving on our schools accreditation committee. I have also had one of my undergraduate research papers selected to be placed in several historical society archives around the area (since it relates to the history of this area).
  15. Just to add my two cents. I have heard Milano is an excellent place for policy, since a friend of mine now goes there. He says that the faculty and students all seem very driven. However, when considering whether the program has as much prestige as NYU or CUNY, it must be known that NYU has a lot of "empty glory." I have heard horror stories about the undergraduate program there, however, I feel that NYU Wagner is considered prestigious simply because its NYU... Therefore, I would say go for Milano... Its a great school, but to me it just doesn't have the "name brand" NYU has.
  16. Bubal-- Being an international student can never hurt your chances (unless you do poorly on your TOEFL, if applicable). Schools of this nature are always looking for ways to diversify their student population. Therefore, I feel as though being an international student gives you an edge in some respect. Good luck!
  17. It could just be that they received your file and processed it quickly. I was accepted to my M.A. program 3 weeks after applying, so I think it could be good or bad... Dont worry! Good luck!
  18. I hope not, since if I got rejected due to being in class I would be furious...
  19. I wish I had that kind of "heads up." Although, I have not been rejected from any schools yet, I am still afraid of the lingering thought of rejection.
  20. Every day I awake with expectations of an email, letter, or something of that nature... and every night i have expectations that the next day will yield the same letter or email I failed to receive that day. It's a strange way of thinking, however, I am in a position in which tension is killing me!

  22. I completely agree! NYU has one of the best programs in the nation. When I visited the school in November while on a college trip I loved the atmosphere. I found that the professors I talked with were generally quite interested in prospective student's questions/concerns. I would be heartbroken if I did not get in... However, I would also be heartbroken if I gained admission without funding. That is even worse considering the school is telling you to go there, and you are so close, but just don't have the will to spend fifty grand a year....
  23. In researching their notification tables, as well as forums from last year, I suspect letters will not be sent until March. Personally, I am dreading that scenario...
  24. I applied before the December 10th deadline. Still have not heard anything back though. This is the time when I am seriously stressed out! LOL.... They say, however, that decisions may take up to 12 weeks, so I would not worry.
