  1. @viiiper Are you sure you need the clinical experience from a university? I'm an SLPA too, my undergrad univ offered clinical practicum, but I never really received clinical experience. It was more like observation. Did yours offer clinical practicum?
  2. @lscain do the 4 1/2 hours for grad school with your supervisor include the supervisory hours that you need to maintain your slp-a license, or do they not allow you to double dip? PS. I sent you a message :-) Thank you for helping us out!!
  3. OMG. I wish they weren't so lax with me when I talked to them about sponsorship. What was the hardest class? Any advice? I'm region 11.
  4. There was a list of courses on your acceptance e-mail. It was a generic list that's required, but they didn't specify if you still lacked any. I think I have all my courses, but I'm also paranoid that I'm missing something! What classes is everyone still needing??
  5. @JoD3o, I received an e-mail on Thursday with my acceptance, I did not call. @SarahT, I don't think you should worry about finding sponsorship! I've spoken with TWU and they said that everyone has always found someone to sponsor them. TWU is willing to help us out too, if we can't find anyone. They said the only time someone wasn't sponsored was this girl that lived in Crowley. TWU got her sponsored in Fort Worth ISD, but she wanted Crowley ISD... even though Crowley wasn't available to sponsor anyone. So, she gave up her spot. Crazy right?! @baylorbear25: Thank you for making a FB group!! Any other region 11 out there?!?
  6. @Mari_pink I did hear back, I got accepted. I was just saying, if I hadn't been accepted, I would have immediately called TWU like my co-worker did a couple of years ago My co-worker also spoke to Laura Moorer-Cook, so @baylorbear25 is correct, she is the person to contact! Melissa Stockholm is also a good person to talk to. I know she's on the committee, but I don't think she has as much of a say as Laura Moorer-Cook does. Don't give up! If you call and they still don't let you in, at least you tried! But I really think that they appreciate those who make an effort to contact them. And it gives you that second chance for them to look at your application and yours only. I've heard rumors from grad students that they have a "points system", so highlight things like helping your supervisor administer tests, being an SLP Assistant, visiting TWU's clinic, etc. @SarahT: I have connections with Fort Worth ISD, but I'm debating if I should look into Mansfield ISD since they are a good school district. Mansfield is a lot closer to me than Fort Worth too, but I don't know if it's worth not having the connections I already have with Fort Worth. What about you?
  7. I don't know if anyone would be willing to do this, but my co-worker applied for TWU and didn't get accepted a couple of years ago. She called to set up a meeting and explained the reasons why she should be accepted. They reviewed her application again and changed her denial to an acceptance. I think it's worth a shot! That was my plan, if I didn't get accepted.
  8. I mailed mine to : Texas Woman's University COMS- Sue Colton MCL Building # 820 1314 Bell Avenue Denton, TX 76204 Last year, I mailed it overnight and my application was nowhere to be found. My application ended up at TWU's bookstore... If you used Fed-Ex, call the office where you mailed it. They can track it and will call their main office for you to ensure your packet is found! They even called TWU for me.
  9. Thank you Last name starts with L. Praying for everyone on here.
  10. Got an e-mail with my acceptance!!! Region 11
  11. @mvslpa where do you work? I misplaced my packet during my move and couldn't remember, but if accepted, the bilingual track would take one more semester correct? @Moxie-19 Got ya. That makes sense.
  12. I work as an SLP-Assistant at a clinic in Fort Worth. What about you? @Moxie-19: It must be the therapist in us wanting to analyze every single detail! My last name starts with L and I received that e-mail Nov 3rd at 4:06. What do you mean about a pattern in e-mails after 4 pm? @mvslpa: I went back on the thread and saw you are Region 10, did you happen to apply for the bilingual track? I had a question about it.
  13. Hey Sarah! I am region 10 or 11 too. Glad to finally see someone in my region. I live in Mansfield, we're pretty close My last name starts with L, so I will post on here as soon as I hear anything. Did you happen to apply for the bilingual track? Anyone else out there in Region 10 or 11?
  14. Tomorrow is almost here.... Whatever the outcome, remember, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
  15. Jod3o, Were you denied admission for cycle 8? What were your stats for cycle 8?
  16. MH13, did you have to sign up for your Masters in Special Ed to get your cert in ABA? Or was the ABA cert separate, if so where did you get it from? Anyone else already looking into other graduate programs or possibly a change in career? I want to stay positive, but it's super hard!!
  17. MH13, I submitted my application and don't remember receiving the TWU view book. What is it?
  18. Hey everyone, I'm region 10/11. I haven't heard anything either besides my application being received and processed. What were everyone's stats like? I'm an SLP-Assistant at a clinic, 4.0 post-bacc GPA, Autism Certification, 3.4 undergrad GPA, bilingual, GRE Total: 288 and Writing 3.5. I'm nervous on how my GRE scores might affect me. Anyone else applied to the bilingual track for Region 10 or 11??
  19. I'm waiting on those two and ACU as well. Haven't heard anything
  20. I received my Sfa rejection today. Anyone heard from Abilene?
