  1. Hey! I'll be attending york this September! Do you remember what date or how long after you received your admission letter that you received your detailed funding letter? Thanks!
  2. Hey fellow applicants! I've been trying to find a descriptive post on Ryersons MSW program (pros/cons/expereinces) from someone who has attended. I've search this forum and a past one but didn't come across one. Can someone link me to a previous post, or if there is none, is there a past ryerson student on here that can write a length description of there experiences! Thanks Much appreciated!
  3. Wow! Thats amazing! And so soon! Did their ROSI account change?
  4. Any day now for us UofT advanced standing applicants
  5. Has anyone applied to the Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Master's Scholarship either in December 2015, or in a previous year? Im just trying to gage when one typically hears back about whether they received an offer or not. Thanks in advanced.
  6. @rachberks Thanks! She actually replied about an hour ago!
  7. Hey! For those of you applying to University of Toronto MSW, has anyone spoke with Angela Umbrello the past few weeks? I've submitted an updated field practicum form because I was late in finding a placement for January. Has anyone been speaking with her the past 2-3 weeks?
  8. All of those waitlisted for UofT, did anyone hear anything from Angela about where they are with the process?
  9. Congratulations! What time did you receive the call? Also, can you give a description of your stats and what you attribute to your being accepted? Thanks!
  10. Hello everyone! For anyone out there like me (waitlisted at UofT 2-Yr MSW), I emailed Angela last week asking about if they started the admissions process for waitlisted individuals. It looks like they aren't disclosing much information. Heres to hoping! This was her reply. Hello, If there is any change in your status, we will contact you. Best regards, Angela Umbrello
  11. Keeping my fingers crossed that they start accepting waitlisted 2-Year MSW Students @ UofT any day now!
  12. I have been thinking the same thing! They said the middle of May, and this Friday will be the very middle of May!
  13. Heres to hoping that this is the week (or next week) that U of T will start sending out waitlist acceptances for 2Y MSW!
  14. Hey! For all of you waitlisted at U of T (2Y MSW), do you know when they usually send out the first round of admissions off the waitlist? I emailed Angela earlier in the week but never heard back. Thanks!
  15. Finally got my letter via snail mail and I am very proud to say I have been waitlisted at University of Toronto 2-Year MSW!!! The only downfall is my Plan B: If I don't get off the waitlist for UofT, my plan is to attend Lakehead 1Yr HBSW in JULY! This complicates things a lot, but knowing how difficult it is (and competitive), I am definitely going to wait the one out! It sucks that I can't 100% commit to Lakehead University, but at the same time, the thought of getting off the waitlist and going straight into a MSW at UofT is still a dream! Good luck to all you out there! Also, if anyone is in the same situation (being waitlist at Toronto and accepting into Lakehead), it would be nice to chat and discuss different options of what others are doing!
  16. Thats amazing! This provides me with so much more hope for next year!
  17. Well said! I completely agree and will take this advice because it is likely that I may be in the same situation as AMetallo.
  18. Just seen this! Good decision! My previous comment stemmed from (1) the fear of giving up a waitlist position because it is so competitive to get into and (2) the feeling of regret if after you finish your HBSW that you don't get accepted into a MSW. Terrifying. I have so much anxiety that I might be in the same spot that you are now once I get my letter. Personally, I don't think I wouldn't be able to give up the waitlist (even though it seems the right thing to do) because I am too scared of not getting accepted next year if I decide to do the HBSW. I also reached out to a faculty member that is the only SWK member doing research in the same field as I am. And to take myself off the waitlist, would be like telling her to forget about us working together? I don't know. Just my current (anxiety filled) thoughts.
  19. Just seeing this now! Wow, I have debated this opinion all semester once I realized how competitive it is to get in to a MSW. Since I have debated this scenario, if I do get waitlisted, my plan is to go to Lakehead and wait it out on! BUT, I didn't realized until now that tuition has to be paid in full by July 2nd! WOW! However, I am still going to stick with my plan. MAINLY, because it is sooooooooo competitive to get in, and it is terrifying that because I have this fear that WHAT IF I were to rejected it and then I don't get in next year? TERRIFYING! So, I would recommend that you hold out because the MSW program are so competitive!! And, it seems to risky to take you off the waitlist/reject it. Hope this helps!
  20. I am worried I will end up in the same boat! Fingers crossed for you!
  21. Congrats! That must be exciting! Where about are you from in Canada (so I can predict when I might receive a letter)
  22. Hey again! Are you able to give a description of your experiences, GPA, and what factors/things/experiences you attribute to you getting accepted, to help us all out! Thanks!
  23. Thats so amazing! Congrats! Is it the 2-year MSW @ U of T?
  24. That all sounds amazing! For a while, I thought it might of been silly to apply to the Advance standing while starting up in a 1-year HBSW. But, now I am positive that it is the right move! Thank so much for sharing!
