Hi guys! Do you guys have any insights for University of Florida versus Michigan State for school psychology?TIA

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of attending UF for grad school. Any perspective on what is it like for a grad school student to live in Gainesville? It seemed like a college town there and not a lot to do. I have always lived in a big city so it will be a big change for me.

Should ranking be taken into account while making a decision for graduate schools? what are top ranked school psychology programs? Does that matter for finding a job after graduation?TIA
-
@psychschool Getting into a PhD program depends on many factors. GPA, GRE, research experience, and most importantly how well your research interest matches with the professor you would like to work with. Clinical experience is also a plus. Message me if you need more info.

Hi everyone! If you get multiple offers, what factors do you take into account for choosing a school? TIA!

@kingslayer I had 6 interviews so far and got 3 rejections without interviews.

@hellokrs I observed that during my interviews. In all my interviews, I was the only non- Caucasian applicant. It might also depend on what state are you applying as well. I would guess perhaps states like California would have more diverse applicants

@estrella waitlisted isnt bad at all! Means you still have a great chance. Not everyone is going to accept offers. Just keep following up with them

@Love3 I havent gotten my official letters yet, but funding is going to be a huge factor for my decision.

@Love3 So far I got to MSU and Connecticut and rejected from UCSB. I haven't heard from Berkeley yet but I know they have sent out their interview invitations already...

@Love3 I got rejected from UCSB too. I have gotten 6 interviews out of 12 so far. I'm still nervous. I know someone who went to 8 interviews and still no offer letter. Does anyone has tips for interviews?

@kingslayer I took two years off after undergraduate before applying. I was in your shoes, so I totally know how you feel. I wasn't sure what I like and I was afraid of not being able to handle it. If you get admitted to a program, it means they believe you are capable of handling a doctorate degree. They would not offer admission to someone who they thought could not go through the program. What I recommend is visit NASP website and read your program's PhD handbooks to see if it sounds interesting. Also, if your college offers research assistant position, volunteer and work in a lab to see if you like it. If you can, get experience in a school setting by volunteering or TA for a special education teacher. Don't worry about your undergraduate school not preparing you well. Graduate school and especially doctorate programs are pretty rigorous so everyone starting will be in the same boat no matter where they attended their undergrad. Good luck and congrats on getting an interview!
