  1. Just wanted to give people an update: I believe mathcat was correct. I followed up by calling the school to "confirm that they had received everything," and they told me that they had just starting looking at my application. ><
  2. Is your top school providing funding? Why not just go with your top choice? I'm in a similar boat, except I'm waiting to hear back from my top choices. (The schools I don't really care about as much as extended an offer to me with an approaching deadline, but I'm still waiting to hear back from my top 2 choices.)
  3. How much extra time did they give you?
  4. I applied to a program a few days after their deadline due to a technical error (on my end). I emailed them before submitting my application and the school told me that they were informally accepting applications for 2 weeks after their deadline. Also, my roommate applied to a school well after their deadline, asked if it was okay to apply, sent in her materials, and got accepted.
  5. It wouldn't hurt to reach out to them for clarification purposes. Just be polite
  6. So, I just went through a situation and I thought others may find this information useful in the end. If your application fee is waived, asking for a reimbursement of your application fee will not negatively impact your chance of admission. (At least, that was my case after discussing it with a particular school. They were perfectly understanding of my desire for a reimbursement. )
  7. I need someone to help me read the tea leaves. My application status used to say: "[insert random numbers and letters] YOUR APPLICATION IS COMPLETE AND HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO THE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE. Now it says: "[insert random numbers and letters] COMPLETED/IN REVIEW." I know I'm grasping at straws, but I need something to get me through this wait. Any idea of the reason behind the change or think it means anything?
  8. piggy-backing on this: if I would like extra time to hear back from other schools but the school did not preemptively offer me the time, is it still okay to ask for the extra time? It's the only school I've been admitted to so far, but it's not at all my top choice.
  9. It seems like I'm in the minority about this, but I received an email saying that my status had been updated on the website. I went to the website and it told me to click a link to view my admission status. With all the hoopla, I assumed I'd been rejected, but they admitted me!!! Generic emails are not the end! There is hope.
  10. So, as of now, I've only heard back from one school. (I applied late in the cycle.) That school has extended an offer to me, but it's not at all my top choice. I'm scared I won't hear back from the other schools before the April 15th deadline they gave me to make my decision. I've only heard from one school so far, so I'm scared to turn them down and then get rejected at all the others. With that said, it's not at all my top choice, so I don't want to accept them and then get admitted somewhere else. Also, I have to pay a significant, non-refundable fee to secure my spot. Is it okay to ask for more time to make my decision? If so, do you have any advice on how to word that request or sample language?
  11. Two things: Does anyone know if emailing the school your GRE scores expedites the application process (until they can receive the official scores) or will schools not even consider your application until they receive the official scores? I'm trying to figure out if it's fair to say that I have been waiting over a month or if they only recently started reviewing my application because my scores were sent out late (mid/late March). Also, has anyone here heard back from any Public Policy programs?
