Letters of Recommendation - please help!!
SLP2Bhopefully replied to melars's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi! I was in the same boat as you where I wasn't super close with my professors either. However, I did apply right out of college so I asked for my letters while I was still taking classes with them. But my advice for you is since you haven't seen them in a while since graduating is to write them a very friendly email, explaining why you would like them specifically to write your letter. Whether it be them teaching your favorite course, or feeling like you took something important away from their class. And also mention to them how you did in your class with them. Then offer to send them your transcripts, resume, and anything else they may need to know about you in order to write your letter. Some professors feel they know you enough to write you a letter without seeing a resume and all that, but there are others who always ask for those things regardless. This way if you offer it to them right off the bat, they will be more inclined to say yes, as opposed to saying no because they don't know you so well. Hope this helps! Good luck! Oh and also introduce yourself in the email and remind them of when you took their class, i.e. semester, year, etc. -

Letter of Intent HELP
SLP2Bhopefully replied to SLP2Bhopefully's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Thanks for the reply and congrats! Do you mind me asking what school? Also who did you send it to? -
Hi all! I was recently wait listed at my top choice school. I have written a letter of intent and sent it to the director of admissions and was told it would be added to my file. My question is to anyone who has written a letter of intent to get in off the wait list--is there anyone else that I should send it to? Has anyone ever emailed it directly to the chair of he department? I am not sure who else I should send it to, or if I even should send it to any other people. I don't know who exactly is on the admissions committee so I wouldn't want to send it to anyone who has no say in admissions and risk bothering anyone or hurting my chances. Also, has anyone ever written a letter and been accepted from the wait list after? Any advice would be helpful! Also if anyone knows of anything else I could do to increase my chances that would be great. Thanks so much!

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with being placed on a "selective" waiting list? Anyone know what that means? Or has anyone been placed on it and then accepted? I'm just trying to figure out what my chances are Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I actually found out 2 days ago I was put on a "selective wait list" so I'm hoping for the best! Anyone know what they mean by selective? They said its ranked but they don't publicize the rankings -
New York/New Jersey Schools Fall 2015

Hi guys! Sorry I'm posting this anywhere that may be relevant in hopes that someone may have some insight.... With it being May already and still having 3 schools left to hear anything from is making me anxious.. I'm wondering if any of you have had contact with Touro, Seton Hall, or Molloy? I still have not heard anything from them--other than an e-mail in late March from Touro explaining that they were starting the reviewing process based on rolling admissions to fill 50 seats. I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on for people who have not heard from Seton Hall or Molloy--does Molloy just not send out rejections? I didn't get an interview so I'm assuming it's a rejection for me. As for Seton Hall, all I've heard is that they are still reviewing....but I would think those of us who have not heard should have at least gotten a rejection or wait list by now... Any thoughts from anyone? Thanks! -

NOVA Southeastern Online Program?
SLP2Bhopefully replied to SLP2Bhopefully's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Thank you for your reply--that is good to know! Do you know anything else about GPA--if they look more at major GPA than cumulative? -
Hey! I was just wondering if anyone else has not received anything from Molloy College, or has had any recent contact with them? I know the interview is required, but I haven't seen any rejections really on the results page. I called last week and had someone tell me they are still reviewing applications--but it seems late to be reviewing and possibly taking anymore interviews. Not sure if they were just saying that instead of stating over the phone I've been rejected. Anyone know if they even send out rejections? Or is it just safe to assume you're rejected if they don't contact you? Seems a little rude to not at least send any notification at all... Any insight anyone has would be helpful! This is one of 3 schools that I am unfortunately having this issue with..

Is anyone else still waiting to hear ANYTHING from Seton Hall? I was told about 3 weeks ago that they were still reviewing and I should hear soon. Has anyone had any recent contact with them? Anyone know what it means if we haven't heard yet? It seems a few were wait listed but hardly any rejections from what I see on the results page. Any thoughts?

Nova Southeastern Online Program Winter 2016
SLP2Bhopefully replied to s1bailey's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi s1bailey! I am looking into applying to this program, and if you don't mind could you please answer a few questions for me? I am wondering about GPA and GRE scores and what they really look for and how selective they are. Also, how long did it take for you to interview and hear back from when you submitted your application? Anything you are willing to share would be really appreciated! Thanks -
Hi everyone! I am wondering about the Nova Southeastern online program for SLP. Does anyone have any information such as what they really look for in an applicant in regards to GPA, experience, GRE scores, etc.? I have heard some people say that you are pretty much in as long as you have above a 3.0 in SLP courses. Is this true? Do they mainly look at SLP GPA, or GPA as a whole? Or perhaps last 60 credits? I also cannot find much about GRE scores, whether they really look at them or if they do what scores they look for. If anyone knows anything about this I would really appreciate any insight! Also, anything anyone knows about this being a good or bad program is welcome as well. Thanks!!
