Great to hear you're applying! I agree with you and say definitely go more into detail about what exactly you want to do with athletics because just participating may not be enough information for the people who read the essays. Since you are also a HS teacher I think the pen pal program makes a lot of sense. Space permitting, you could probably include both. As far as general information on the community engagement and independent project, make it unique to who you are and your interests, but realistic too. I think we can write a million things we could do, but mentioning and narrowing down to 1-3 solid ideas is better than a large list of mini-activities. Good luck! Hey! I will be an ETA in Spain in the fall so I can't speak about applying for Malaysia specifically, but I can give some general advice that helped me. First and foremost I would say make your application wholeheartedly your vision and what you want to tell the committees that will be reading them. This is your application and it should be a representation of you and your life that guided you to apply for Fulbright. But also have people (professors, advisors, mentors, even some friends and family) review it to offer input. While I ended up writing what I thought fit, their advice and corrections in addition to my Fulbright Advisor and Committee was extremely beneficial and helped too. Now, onto my experience writing the essays. When I was writing my PS last summer I was told by my advisor to focus more on my life experiences and how they influenced my decision to apply to be an ETA. You definitely are selling yourself and your story in the PS and to stand out against everyone else who could be applying. For the SGP I focused solely on my prior teaching and mentoring experiences that led me to Fulbright and what I learned from them. I also expanded on any prior experience I had in Spain, why I chose Spain/my connection, my project ideas for my community if I were to get Fulbright, etc. I hope this helps you and good luck on writing your essays! Hopefully more people will respond so you can get more insight aside from just mine haha. The essays seem tough now, but well worth it with or without an official Fulbright offer.

I did! Email your contact at IIE. Scroll down to the bottom of the Finalist Resources Page and click "IIE Program Manager" and there is a list of Program Contacts. I found my area (I am a Spain ETA so I emailed the Europe contact the problem) and she fixed it the next day. They said some others were having problems too, so don't worry!

Yes! I scanned it and sent it my email then uploaded it to the portal.

I printed them out and physically signed them to send it in. Then I scanned it and uploaded it in pdf form.

I'll be an ETA in Spain, but I wanted to let people who are applying to Spain that they have expanded their program!! There are now 123 awards instead of 46 with different regions!! You still can pick a preference (Madrid, La Rioja, Asutrias and Galicia I think) so hopefully your waiting will be less painless since you have more awards
