  1. Would you consider Cornell a better school than U of Toronto? I think U of T is ranked higher...
  2. Thanks! It's nice to meet fellow U of T grad students
  3. Hi! PHD in English, specializing in Renaissance rhetoric. Are you Canadians or International students?
  4. Any U of T grad students here?
  5. Thanks! I've already emailed a potential supervisor and she said that she would be interested in supervising Glad to know it helps! even if it doesn't guarantee a spot, it's something!
  6. I'm considering applying for their PHD program but was told that there are very few spots for international students... I wonder what do they mean by "very few spots"... 1 ? 2 ? 5 ? If anyone here knows their PHD program and can shed some light on this, I'll very much appreciate it!
  7. Ramus, You seem to be familiar with Princeton's early modern professors. I hope you don't mind me asking, What's the word on Bradin Cormack? Is he new there? is he well-known in his field? I'm thinking about applying to Princeton (working on early modern women-writers and political rhetoric) and I'm still debating whether to contact Night Smith or Bradin Cormack... Both aren't exactly my field but close enough...
  8. Congratulations! Sent you a PM
  9. Thanks!! Excellent suggestion!
  10. WOW! Thanks! I'd love to read it!!
  11. Hi! Thanks for the suggestions! Is William Carroll into women's writing? Seems like a Shakespeare guy through and through... I thought more along the lines of Erin Murphy or Christopher Martin...
  12. Is she still interested in women-writers? It's hard to tell, she has so many interests!
  13. Thanks for clarifying. It's really depressing though... knowing our chances are slim at best...
  14. Thanks!!! I'll check these out too I'm applying to English Lit programs. My focus is women's rhetoric in the Renaissance... not rhetoric per se.
  15. Thanks!!! Wendy Wall is a great suggestion! I'm also checking Boston University and Vanderbilt... do you know the English Dept. there?
  16. Hi all~! Any suggestions for Renaissance students focusing on rhetoric and women-writers? Applying for PHD (I hold a BA & MA in English Lit.), thinking about: Oxford UCL Toronto Chicago Penn But all of these are very very selective and competitive... I haven't taken the GRE / GRE Subject yet so I don't really know what my chances are at this point but in any case I'm looking for good Renaissance programs that aren't necessarily top 10-20...
