  1. Same here! I can't complain
  2. Anybody have an idea about how many people Arizona will accept?
  3. Thanks!!!!!!
  4. Just been accepted into Duke!!!
  5. I guess I am also a little slow. Is the "all schools" post different from the fake NYU post?
  6. I've been accepted into Texas Tech's MA program. I'm so excited. Even if every other school shuts me out, I now have this fantastic offer that I couldn't be happier about.
  7. Ah okay, didn't notice that when I saw the post earlier.
  8. I would be freaking the f*** out if I were that Michigan interview. Are interviews common?

    Now what?

I started playing Fallout. I figure now might be the last time I'll have this much free time in awhile (if I actually get in anywhere).

Thanks for double checking. I thought it was strange when I first saw it too. I haven't seen anything about requesting a PDF on the ETS website, so I was probably going to print my unofficial scores and scan them. I might even send an official score just in case, but it would also be nice to save the $27.

Are you sending in an official score report of the GRE to MIT? The application says to upload a scanned PDF of the score report, and I don't see anywhere on the website requesting an official copy. I've emailed them but haven't received a response. It's just kind of weird because most of the other applications require the official copy from ETS.

I have Jan 5th for Wisconsin, Madison. Also, I noticed you're applying to MIT. Have you started their application yet?
  13. Hello all, I apologize if this topic has been discussed in a previous thread. I'm wondering how important it is to make the length requirements for the statements of purpose. I've heard from numerous professors and grad students that the writing sample lengths suggested on many programs' websites are arbitrary, and that it is acceptable to submit a writing sample that is a couple pages over the requested length. With that being said, does the same apply for statements of purpose? I am currently at approximately 1000 words; two pages if I use 11pt font and make the margins smaller. Some of the programs I'm applying to ask for a maximum of 500 words or one page only. I'm hoping that a longer statement of purpose won't hurt, but as applications begin to get closer, I begin to get more paranoid.
  14. I've heard a lot of this information before, but I figured a few people on here might be interested in this article. http://dailynous.com/2015/09/17/are-mas-the-new-norm-for-admitted-phd-program-applicants/.
  15. Thanks for the advice. So far I've narrowed my list down to 13 schools: Three from the top 10, three from 10-20, three from 20-30, and four MA programs. I understand pedigree is important, but is it more important than the actual content of my application? I'd say my application is strong, but then again I am comparing it to other people from my program. My program is most likely considered non-elite. I'd hate to lose out simply because I couldn't afford to go to a strong undergraduate program.
  16. Hello all, I'm new to this website and was hoping to learn from others who have been through this experience. I'm an undergraduate finishing up my final year. I will be will be applying this winter. I'm still trying to finalize a list of possible graduate schools (using the philosophical gourmet), but I am having a hard time figuring out how competitive of a candidate I actually am. My philosophical interests are ethics and metaphysics (particularly mind, religion, and philosophy of the person).
