  1. Oh ok. Thanks for the clarification!
  2. Hi, I just noticed something. Did you mean it costs more than $20k to live? If you meant $18k, does this mean that the $2k that goes to the school comes out of the total award? Sorry, the only reason I ask is because I thought the award to the institution and the award to the student were separate.
  3. Yes! It does, thank you!
  4. I am an undergrad and this is my first time applying for the ford. Would some please explain this to me. If someone received this fellowship, the foundation will give you a $20k stipend and and the university you attend 2k, right? So how do you pay for the rest of your tuition? How does this work! Do you have to pay it out of your $20k stipend? Thanks in advance.
  5. This is my first time applying and I am currently finishing up my undergrad degree and will start my phd program in the fall. I am excited but very realistic about my chances!
  6. I guess UCLA doesn't try to make the financial packages as equal as possible, like some departments :-( too bad
  7. As a potential grad student, I would play it safe and call them Professor or Dr. So So....Personally, I wouldn't want to risk offending anyone. It would be great if they invited you to call them by their first name, and that's when you could start addressing them in that way.
  8. I agree with socialcomm, a master's degree in Sociology is a good option because you can get experience in sociology and show that you can conduct graduate level work in the discipline.
  9. My friend received an email on Thursday inviting her to the Open House (first week of March) and they offered her a TAship for 3 years.....I have no idea what this means for the rest of us.
  10. Yeah, they sent out emails of acceptances on Thursday :-(
