  1. So I am encountering this thread at the right time, where already in my first semester I am concerned. Research is already going well (first author papers out, more in the queue- epidemiology is the field), but I get the sinking feeling like I will have a mix of Bs and As with one class maybe as low as a B- Is this going to screw me for fellowship apps, tenure track comms etc. down the line?
  2. Anyone concerned with hearing from programs, buckle up. While the waiting is, to quote the late Tom Petty, "the hardest part" it does indicate they haven't gotten to your file or you have not been immediately rejected. At least this applies to the high volume schools. I received my HSPH rejection first, then other schools began to follow. February contained my highest volume of notifications though, so be on the lookout then. Good luck!
  3. Hello all, Looking to submit by February 8th for an interdisciplinary aging PhD program. Open to any and all feedback, as well as providing the same to yours. Thanks- PM for interested parties.
  4. All, I am looking to apply for the Cognition and Perception (C&P) program at NYU for next fall. I am applying to 8+ schools, but NYU is hands down my number 1. Being from the south, I do not have alot of exposure to the odds and ends of this program, school, and expectations. I also would like a rough eval of my profile considering the department. I take the GRE this Saturday, and I've been consistently scoring 158V and 153-156 Quant. My psych gpa is a 4.0, and I will have 2 publications submitted, what will will be 4 semesters of lab experience, and unlimited passion for this school and what the researchers are doing there. Anyone care to size my chances up fairly? Are there professors I should/must get to know to help them catch a name among the deck of apps? I am looking to acquire a Quant minor while in the program as well, so anyone with a similar background, please let me know what you do and your career path! Thanks!
