  1. Seconding this, and will finalize my decision to decline this offer soon (also funded, comparative). Hopefully it helps someone on the waitlist.
  2. Toronto is still not out-- I think they will be releasing decisions next week, though.
  3. I read an article about exactly this by someone who studied the grad school admissions process; it seems many departments are also concerned about the ratio of offers accepted to offers made as a metric of performance.
  4. Toronto should be rolling out in the first week of March, based on their past record. Rejections often come later.
  5. I just received a funding offer from LA this afternoon. I'd expect to hear from them soon, if you haven't already (and I will be at visiting weekend).
  6. Looking at previous results, it seems UCSD has sent out rejections before acceptances in the past? Fingers crossed, as I'm still to hear from them and I'm 0:2 with 5 to go.
  7. Yep. This was my first decision-- nowhere to go from here but up!
  8. Thanks for the info! Application still says "submitted," but hopefully some official information will come out in the next week.
  9. With no results back yet, and looking at prior years, I'm hoping that we might hear back from Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, in the coming week. Here's hoping!
  10. I applied to 7. I could have opted for lower ranked "safeties" or added unis in cities/departments where I know I wouldn't be happy, but what would the point of that be? If I don't get in somewhere I would actually be happy to go, then there are other cycles. If you have a clear idea of what you want to study, where you would actually attend, and where you could realistically get in, 8 is plenty.
  11. To be fair, I'm pretty sure the Berkeley responses were fake. Nobody has claimed them, some of the notes on the survey seem to target members here, and there are only, what? Three of them?
  12. That feeling when you see you have a new email, get excited, and then it turns out it's just a spammy newsletter.
  13. I think so? I still just see "submitted," and haven't seen anything in my inbox either way.
  14. Yikes, these Berkeley notices (even if they are just trolls) are making me nervous.
  15. I applied to Berkeley and Stanford, though I'm in Comparative.
  16. It seems that you might want to hold off on expecting Stanford this week. I logged in to the application portal this morning to check on how things are going, and in the "application checklist" tab, this message shows up at the top: Your application has been submitted electronically to the Department of Political Science. Do not be concerned if your application status is "incomplete." Unless you hear directly from me about missing materials, you can assume that we have everything we need to consider your application. All applications, even those marked as "incomplete," will be considered by the committee. We expect to notify applicants of the committee's decision in mid February 2016. (Emphasis added). Alas, the wait continues.
  17. If you search the school (and keyword political science) in the results survey here, you can start to get a feel for when programs have historically released their decisions. http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=political+science
  18. Definitely this! Based on the decisions from the last few years, hopefully Berkeley will come out sometime next week and begin the trend of my schools getting back to me
  19. I'm not sure. The email noted that "We have decided to extend this deadline slightly to Monday January 18th for those of you who are having last minute issues completing application requirements. (Note: If your online application indicates that all items have been received you can disregard this email.)" I turned in all application materials weeks ago and had no issues, so I'm not sure if they've encountered system errors as of late.
  20. I'm not sure how relevant this is to anyone here, but I just received an email from U of T announcing that they have extended their application deadline to Monday.
  21. @asurachm I am not Indonesian, but Indonesia has been at the centre of my professional and academic interests for a while now. Semoga sukses!
  22. Alright, as of today I am free! All applications are finished. In total, I went for seven. Now on to waiting! (though I may still be looking around for Canadian universities that would be worth applying to, noting that my goal is to live and work in Canada).
