  1. This website, Afouro GPA calculator, will let you calculate a cumulative GPA using two or more different scales. There are options to add a term and change the grading scales. EDIT: Apparently you need to be in the "My Transcript" section...
  2. (my $0.02) I got into a very competitive graduate school program with a 2.89 GPA from my undergraduate studies. I had a rough college experience. I worked. Then I went to a very affordable Community College, transfered some courses from my degree, worked towards an Associates (yes, after my BA), and had a nice and fresh 3.86 GPA to demonstrate my commitment/ability to improve.
  3. Just thought I'd chime in. I'm curious why you need to do all this through US banks/phone providers anyway. I really have no idea so your input would be enlightening: can you not maintain your home country banks/credit cards and even phone while living in the US? I haven't had a problem traveling with my bank cards and phones overseas while on short trips abroad. Maybe the long duration move is different though.
  4. I clicked to find practical tips for getting ahead and I found reality instead. At 35, BACK in graduate school, in program and job number whatever, I can attest that I've heard this advice about a million times but never really listened. Now I just know it as fact.
  5. Hi. Just thought I'd chime in as a long time NOVA resident. Tysons traffic made me hate my life and is not THAT much cheaper than Arlington. I need to second ANYTHING on the orange (maybe some blue) line as far as efficiency when getting from VA to DC. One of the things that always killed me about bus -> metro or metro->metro transfers was the sudden 15 - 20 minute wait that would murder the commute, especially if you have to do it more than once. Not worth it.
