Are visiting a great university and getting free travel and food while meeting a bunch of like-minded individuals so exhausting haha. Looks like you have a ton, but if it's not conflicting then I suggest you should check it out for all of them. Unless you are very busy with work/school then, if it were me, I would just go to all of them. Also the school and the faculty spent a lot of time and money for this, as well as denying other candidates, so unless if you consciously justify your decision, well go for it.
-
why are you regretting that? Is it because of the wait? Judging from my invites they don't seem to correlate to any pattern of submission unless if it specifically says that it is rolling admissions. Of course I'm only one data point so never mind if that's not the case haha. The earliest was submitted 9 days before and the latest was 12 hours, however all of my letters arrived only a few hours before the deadline.

Wait, you played college basketball? Holy shit with those honors good job (not sure if grad school cares about this but still). It would have helped to apply for a variety of schools to improve those chances, but you look like a very solid candidate and stand a real chance for USC and UW.

Harvard BPH interview! Dream program, very pumped, but this means that I might have 3 interviews in a span of 10 days.
-
All 4 programs are comparatively competitive, maybe you are on the top of the "maybe pile" for Harvard and UCSF, but bottom of the "yes" pile for the other two. It's literally one or two people's difference, you never know. Also at least somewhere wants you, so you aren't a definite no haha
-
Welp, RIP my hopes. I thought I had amazing fit but I guess the rest of my application was not on par. I'm sure Harvard BBS are finishing up as well. Fingers crossed for BPH though!
-
Seriously, this application season has been very surprising to me. 4/4 and I'm content on all rejections from now on (eh not really but heh) I thought my no pub, meh GPA would get my ass handed to me but hey, people really care about LOR and SOP and the intangibles that can't be properly described using the "chance me" threads.

Whoa Penn Biochemistry and molecular biophysics interview (not official yet so no date). This is amazing, I can't believe I was so depressed 2 weeks ago. @metbio2016 that's my second choice! Hope I hear from them soon (endocrinology was also my second choice, but I doubt that matters too much)
-
WUSTL DBBS interview invite as well this morning. I don't like that they didn't give an interview date, but it's still awesome. Now my fit/reaches are coming in, I might have to start really thinking about not accepting all the interviews..
-
Neat! Sorry all of their websites are pretty hard to navigate :/ thanks! Twiddling my thumbs here instead of doing something useful
-
Also, would anyone know what are the dates for the interviews for Penn CAMB? It's one of my top choices as well, so I'm really regretting accepting the interviews so early.
-
@Metbio2016 same interview invite from Columbia as well at the same date! See you there. So excited wow
-
Yeesh, the problem is that I have no schedule and this is my first interview lol. Whatever, I guess I will send it tonight. Thanks!

Is 2 business days good for replying back to accept the interview and date? (got it Friday morning and hopefully will reply monday night) Duke gave me two weekends and did not specify a response time, just ASAP. I know that one might conflict with another school's. I might be too optimistic but should I just pick one weekend and hope for the best?
-
Man that's one of my top choices. fingers crossed. And also first few people that are interested in metabolism as well hi. I personally didn't like that the essay was only 500 words long, I don't think I did a great job on it :/ Also, if you don't mind me asking, what are the interview dates?
-
Yep CMB! I have no clue about other programs so I really don't have a preference, someone should make a chart with other interview dates on, so I can gauge which weekend to go to. Also, I'm planning to wait 2 business days to respond, so I can have some lag with other (hopeful) interview invites.
-
Haha, that was my exact response (with the same GPA lol) this morning as well. My dates are 2/5-2/6 and 2/19-2/20. You?
-
Thanks for the congratulations. And that was what I was banking on as well, but since you go to Harvard maybe there's some slack in your GPA haha. But no really, I think a lot of these "chance me" questions are kind of too superficial, so if someone posts it, there's really no use in putting someone down.

OK. A day after my last final and I forgot to close my window, and the stupid garbage truck comes by and starts clanging so I wake up at 7AM PST. I refresh my phone and BAM. Duke Cell and Molecular Biology Ph.D. Interview invite!! OK everyone's talking about GPA and mine isn't stellar (3.48) at a school that isn't really grade deflated. My LOR and SOP were very good, I think that's what boosted me up. Good luck everyone
-
Yeah, I'm applying there as well as with BBS. I talked to some professors there and it's extremely competitive, more so than some other departments :/.
-
You have a fantastic overall application unless if you really messed up your LOR or SOPs. There's honestly nothing lacking in your application at all but the caliber of your schools are very good. As another student from a UC I'm quite jealous haha, but yeah you should be able to get some interviews definitely.
-
NICE! And it's funny how they are sending the emails at like 9 EST, didn't really expect that. So I should refresh until the night too huh lol
-
I applied to WUSTL partially because they don't charge lol. But no really, in my field of interest they are tip top and I have doubts applying to such a top program (especially since their essays were a lot of work). Also mine is Molecular Cell Biology and Mol Genetics and Genomics
-
There aren't any cases where top schools give acceptance letters without interviews right. So if mid February starts rolling around, then you might as well not wait for the April deadline? Wait, I'm doing it wrong then, because that's what I'm doing now haha (senioritis is a bitch)
-
Congrats! You're in LA as well huh heh. I applied there as well so I'm still hoping for the best
