Thanks for the info! I actually logged on for the first time today and my application status says "application with CEPE". I never would have found out how to login if it wasn't for your post (despite even emailing the admissions people and asking if an online portal exists). They really need to make their portal more visible to applicants! Anyway, thanks again!

Hi Colieg, I've applied for the MSW for Working Professionals program in Peel Region! It isn't mentioned much on here, so I'm so glad I've found someone who may potentially be attending the program. I still haven't heard back yet; I think I have another three weeks to go. I keep wondering the same thing about Windsor - I don't think that they have an online portal like the other universities do, unless you were a previous Windsor student. I got the impression that we'd be notified of our admission decisions by postal mail but I could be wrong. Best of luck to you!!

Hi Everyone, Congrats to all those who have already been accepted! For those who are still anxiously awaiting decisions, I am with you in the same boat! U of Windsor doesn't get mentioned too often on here, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether they also have a website for applicants to check the status of their applications online, similar to U of T and Ryerson. I couldn't find it and when I emailed the admissions coordinator for more information, all that she told me was that my transcript and online application have been received. Thanks!

Hi MSW16, Yes, you need both a stats and research methods course for admission. They did mention that technically, the 5000 hours should be accrued after completion of your qualifying degree but they would look at this on a case-by-case basis. For example, I had graduated with my first BA 5 years ago but with an unimpressive GPA. I decided to return to school in order to pursue a second undergrad degree, which was the equivalent of 2 years of full-time studies (4 years part-time). I will be finished this second degree in April and have been working full-time during this time but I am still eligible to apply to the Working Professionals program so there is much flexibility in this area also. Janet, the admissions coordinator, is very responsive and helpful if you have questions about the applications process or your situation specifically. For anyone who is interested, I learned a couple of interesting things from Windsor's webinar earlier this week. This is for their MSW for Working Professionals program. For the personal statement, the second question asks applicants to write about their interest in the areas of gerontology, health/mental health, and child welfare; applicants are, in fact, not restricted to only these areas. They were very clear that they want applicants to write about something that they feel passionately about, and although most areas in social work can somehow be related to the three listed areas, applicants may write about any issues that they feel strongly about (e.g. human rights, social justice, other marginalized populations, etc.). For this program, they have stated that they want applicants with at least three years of full-time, relevant experience. They are willing to consider also applicants who have worked the equivalent in part-time hours. Either way, applicants should have approximately 5000 hours of related work experience in order to have a strong application. The most interesting thing that I had learned was from asking what the competitive average was for last year's cohort. Their response was that a competitive average doesn't really exist for their MSW program, as applicants are not judged in comparison to others, but instead on their own strengths and suitability for the program. The number of applicants that they accept is not set in stone, particularly for their Peel location, as different sections of a cohort can be created based on demand. Applications are processed on a rolling basis, so everyone who might be interested is encouraged to apply early. Hope this helps those of you who are thinking of applying to Windsor! :)

Unfortunately I didn't complete an undergrad thesis but will be mentioning a fourth year research seminar project that I am completing in collaboration with a community legal clinic - it's not quite the same but hopefully it's better than nothing! Hi Everyone, I'm really new to this forum but SO glad that we all have a space to connect and share all of our questions and answers for this application season. I am currently completing my fourth year of a BA in Human Rights & Equity Studies at York U and will be applying to Windsor's MSW for Working Professionals program in Peel Region (first choice), along with U of T's and York's 2-year MSW programs. I currently have a bit over 4 years of experience as a front-line settlement and employment counsellor, working with newcomer clients and those looking for employment in a priority neighbourhood in Toronto; I have an A-average (8.0 out of 9 on York's confusing GPA scale) but NO unpaid/volunteer experience. Do you guys think this shows a lack of initiative to make a difference without being paid on my part? Or more simply, will my lack of varied experience hurt my application? Also another question: I missed U of T's info session last week and will be unable to attend future ones because of work. Did anyone happen to attend the session that would be kind enough to share any important updated info with the rest of us? I will be attending York's info session at the end of the month and will be sure to provide some details here!
