  1. I still have yet to hear anything from Duke or Columbia. As it seems that admittances have already been announced I'm assuming it's rejection, but it would be nice to know for sure one way or another. Would it be bad form to just email them at this point?
  2. Probably referring to the MA program in International Policy Studies. More policy-oriented but seems like some faculty might overlap.
  3. Claiming a UCLA admit and a UCSD rejection. Waiting on a few more schools. Did any of the UCLA admits receive info RE funding, or will that happen later?
  4. Also among the rejected Berkeley applicants. Duke app just says that my materials are submitted, so I'm taking that as a likely rejection given that people seem to have received acceptances already. I also applied for an MA through the CIR at Chicago...will that come out at the same time as regular Chicago decisions?
  5. Hi all, I'm new to the forum, and this will be my first application cycle. My goal is a PhD in IR, but I'm also applying to a couple of MA programs as a backup. For various complicated reasons, I'm only applying to PhD programs in California, and right now the list is Stanford, Berkeley, UCSD, UCLA, and Irvine. I'm also considering one-year MA programs at Chicago, Columbia, LSE, and Cambridge. Strengths are probably my GPA (3.86 overall, 3.92 in major) at a top-five LAC, and reasonably good GRE scores (170 verbal, 159 quant, 5.0 analytical). I think my biggest weakness is that I didn't write a thesis as an undergrad, so my best writing samples are relatively short. Also applying so narrowly is obviously a risk, but one I'm willing to take.
