  1. To those who are interviewing today.. How did it go? Was it in a group setting?? What kind of questions did they ask? Speech related or more personal questions? Does each person take turns answering the questions? What's the writing sample about? Any information you can say would be soo helpful! Can you tell I'm freaking out a little lol
  2. Wait koalaover1 how do high school credits effect my gpa? And I also have noticed a pretty large decrease in my gpa. I hope schools know csdcas lowers our gpas for repeat classes and such
  3. I just paid $200 for one application!!! It had a CSDCAS fee of 125 and a university fee of 75. I feel like that's insane when you have no idea if you'll get it. Are other apps this expensive? Plus sending gres and transcripts adds up too
  4. So green means it must be verified before the date shown. Orange means documents sent in and app submitted by date. But no verification required yet? And blue means not everything needs to be in but app submitted by date shown. Do I have this right? i submitted an orange with the deadline of Han 1st yesterday. But requires verification. Will I be late?? Because it won't be verified until after?
  5. Okay good! I sent that stuff in really early! Only thing is I never got notification of them getting my gres but I sent them a month ago
  6. How long did it take everyone to be verified? On the website it says up to 4 weeks is that true?? And I wonder if they break during the holidays... Any input would be great!
  7. Soo I reached out to 3 previous professors via email to write recommendation letters and have heard nothing back. Last week I called and left messages and still nothing. I know you need academic recommenders and I can't think of anyone else to ask... I guess I'm more venting then asking a question. Just frustrated that I feel like this is the end of my road bc without academic recommenders I'm out of luck.
  8. I've spent hours on edfind too but I've come to the same conclusion as cm28- I'm not sure how accurate it all is.. Southern ct is on that list but I know for a fact it's a super competitive program since it is a state school and is cheaper
  9. Cmm28 I understand it's a competitive field. I think we all know that by now. I was talking less competitive compared to the area. I wanted to know if anyone had insight to a school that looks at the whole package rather then just the stats. And my headline is "east coast" therefore not just northeast. Kjm26 so far I've found Hofstra and Hampton university
  10. I know edfind but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I'm saying this because I emailed a school that I'd be in the range for, and they said my stats were very low for their school. So Just because the range dips lower doesn't mean they usually let people like that in. It could be one person with an amazing background let in while everyone else is above a 3.8... I'm just looking for schools that are notoriously more flexible and look at the whole package.
  11. Anyone know schools in the east coast that are less competitive with a high acceptance rate? Specifically northeast but all recommendations are welcome!
  12. Recommendation letters should be by people who can assess your ability to complete a grad program. I'd stick with the 3 that know you best so that you have 3 strong ones. If you want to ask your work supervisor I think that would be beneficial as well because it shows you worked and went to school, which i think would only add to your app. I'm not sure about the survey thing though.. I feel like as long as the letter addresses those topics it shouldn't matter
  13. Thank you for your responses. I guess my case is more complicated because I did awesome my freshmen year, then terrible my sophomore (due to issues), then great again. So I feel like I have to mention something because it was uncharacteristic of me. I'll just have to try to spin it in a good light because I dont want it seen as weakness in my application.
  14. I was wondering how you address bad grades in your personal statement. I went to 2 undergrad schools, one I had a 2.9 then the next I had a 3.6. Obviously I want them to look at the 3.6 and how I improved myself but the first schools transcript still needs to be sent out. I was going through a tough time with personal things and family stuff that affected my school work but I don't know how to address it in my essay without it sounding pathetic or like a cop out. Any suggestions? Also, I don't have a family member that suffered a speech impairment or stroke or anything like most do in their essays to explain why they choose the major. I honestly just liked the classes and the material... But that doesn't sound interesting to an admissions committee. Has anyone else decided on the major just bc they liked it? I don't know how to make myself unique when my experience really wasn't...
