  1. Wow thanks for the heads up. I also did not have a good experience at my undergrad (Iona) but some people loved it.. I guess not everyone is gonna love a program. Luckily it's only 2 years so I'll be in and out. Did you end up applying to mercy for your masters or did you look at other schools? Also, what's your gpa? Mine was a 3.1 so if I can get in you def can!
  2. Ah that's so sweet! How did you like their undergrad program? I thought the professors seemed nice and super approachable. What did you like best about mercy/ what was your least favorite aspect? Any advice is appreciated
  3. I got into mercy college, Molloy college, and new paltz. All in ny. You just have to do a ton of research on what requirements colleges have for gpas and gres. I suggest going to asha Edfind to find a program that matches you. Then email and ask about your chances. It's def harder with a lower gpa but you can do it!!
  4. I feel ya. I've been out of school for 2 years now. I wanted to keep 2 academic letters since most schools prefer that, so I wrote a letter to my previous 2 LORs and said why I want to continue school and what I have to offer and asked them to please write me another letter. And the 3rd letter came from my current job. I definitely recommend reaching out early, and maybe even meeting with them beforehand to just refresh them on what you've been up to. Most professors expect to write LORs so it's not a bother to them even if you've graduated
  5. My first year I got all rejections, second year 2 wait lists, and finally got in the 3rd time! But thank you! I just wanted to share because I know how frustrating it can be and how much you wanna say screw it and give up. But you can totally do it! I got into 3 schools with a 3.1 so if I can do it you can too! And I really hope those wait lists turn into acceptances for you. Maybe you can email and express your continued interest in their program and maybe that will give you a leg up!
  6. Hey guys, I just wanted to say don't give up! This was my third time applying and I finally got in! I actually got accepted to 3 schools. If this is something you truly want then keep at it. Improve your app by getting volunteer experience, rewrite that SOP, and reconnect with those LOR. It's totally possible to do if you put your heart into it! I wish you guys the best in the future. I know it's hard not getting accepted (I've been there) but be positive and don't feel like a failure because you're not! So so so many people get rejected before accepted
  7. My best advice is to prepare yourself for any questions they might ask. I first wrote out my answers then practiced a whole bunch! Although I didn't have the exact same questions as the ones I was practicing it def helped me to be able to respond quickly and efficiently. Make sure you know what you want to say, and how you want to come across. I think most schools are looking for intelligent/friendly people! Good luck
  8. I'm waiting to hear back from a school still should I email them and say that I still am interested or just let it be and wait?
  9. Just got my rejection email too I have 3 schools left to her from too. I hope we get in!!!
  10. Ugh that's super frustrating! Hopefully we hear positive news from Loyola tomorrow though! Just one acceptance would make me feel so much better. I feel like I need a vacation after this process lol
  11. I wish everyone was notified the same time regardless of acceptance or rejection. Did you end up hearing from southern ct yet?
  12. I also did not receive an email. I really hope it's in waves!
  13. I have an interview here coming up. Any info would be super helpful. I mostly just wanna know if I should be prepared for speech or personality based questions, if there's a writing sample, and if it is a group interview or 1:1. If anyone could let me know that would be so helpful!
  14. I did my undergrad at Syracuse. The gebbie clinic is huge and unlike what I have seen at most schools who just have one or two treatment rooms. The program in undergrad was really good, but the teachers aren't the friendliest bunch. I personally hated the weather it was always sooo cold and windy so that will be a change from Cali. And being so far upstate with not much around you is a little depressing sometimes. But there's tons to do on campus. The campus is huge and sooo beautiful! Literally a building there that looks like hogwarts lol and of course all the sporting events are so much fun and you really feel like you belong to a great school good luck in your decision
  15. I just got invited to interview at Molloy.. Can anyone say what to expect? Like speech related or personality related questions?
  16. It's strange that there is one rejection and one interview posted... I'm not really sure what to think of it. I sent an email last week and they said we'd probably be asked to interview by Friday.. I'm glad I'm not the only one because it makes me think they're just behind in deciding. It's crazy they're interviewing so late.. But hopefully we get asked soon! I'm thinking by Monday
  17. Did anyone else complete the writing sample from new paltz but not hear anything back yet. I saw only one person posted about an interview and the wait is driving me crazy!
  18. Yes rejection in the mail. Can't say I didn't see it coming...
  19. I believe Tish22 was trying to be helpful and let people know what she has heard since she currently attends that school. Maybe instead of rudely dismissing her you should thank her. Many schools tell students they will know by a certain date but often notify earlier.
  20. Did they email you about a writing sample? I just did it over the weekend, but I looked at the results page and not many people have posted about it. So maybe they're doing waves? I emailed the department assistant and she said all decisions should be made by the first week of April.. So more waiting
  21. Anyone else apply to new paltz? And have you done the writing sample yet?
  22. Yeah I got an email back in January saying they received my application and it also said everyone should know by email by March 31st. They must be changing everything to paperless because I saw that others were notified by mail in previous years. Just means I'll be checking my email 1000000 times that week
  23. I know we've got a little less than 3 weeks, but that seems so far! I think Southern uses post mail for their decision, and Loyola said they were emailing.
  24. Waiting to hear from New Paltz, Mercy, Southern CT, Hampton University, and Loyola Maryland! The wait is getting unbearable I'm so anxious all the time!
