  1. Good luck to you @bluebane! And congrats to all who got in to programs. Good luck to those who didn't. I'm still waiting for Northwestern to respond. They said they won't be sending it until late this week or next. Fingers crossed. Gods speed to those embarking on their journeys.
  2. @directMontana Radio silence from ISU. I e-mailed them last week asking if decisions were still ongoing...nothing @bluebane I think sending Boston an E-mail just to update them would be cool. I fly out to Northwestern on Thursday. Unless I hear back from ISU, which I'm feeling skeptical about, it looks like it'll be Northwestern or bust. Good luck fellow Directors!
  3. Congratulations @bluebane! That is awesome!
  4. @bluebane My Northwestern interview is on March 10th, I'm acting in a show around that time, but I'm fortunate in that I got an understudy. I had to push a little to make it happen, but it all worked out. I'm hoping Northwestern makes a decision soon after so I can weigh my options. I still haven't heard anything from Indiana so I imagine that's out. I sent him an E-mail just touching base and never got a response. That makes me a little sad because when I started looking at grad schools like two years ago Indiana's program was the one that inspired me to really pursue my MFA. Oh well. I can't say I'm terribly surprised. I liked talking to Dale, but we did have a weird conversation where we didn't quite gel and butted heads a good bit. I E-mailed ISU touching base and they said I'm still in consideration and they are hoping to make a decision around the end of Feb. Keep fighting the good fight friends.
  5. @bluebane So if I've not heard from Indiana about the Skype interview, should I assume that is a no-go?
  6. @QuirkyDirector I was just thinking the same thing. I thought number wise at least one of us would have heard from them. Part of me is hoping that they are just running behind, but with the interviews being just a week away I realize that is unlikely. It might be time for me to be sad about Yale for a day or two and then move on. Welp. Here's hoping I'm wrong.
  7. @bluebane Did you get any details on Northwestern's financial plan when you visited? Everything that I have read is pretty nebulous. I know there is a full tuition waiver and a "partial stipend."
  8. Yale might be out, but they did say they would be reaching out until the 12th and they called me at the 11th hour for my phone interview. Also there is like 6 of us, so surely at least one of us will get a call right? Also I just heard back from Northwestern today, they invited me to interview at their campus, but I have a show at the same time. Hope I can get it worked out.
  9. Thanks for the update @bluebane! Yeah, I just heard back from Illinois State (I e-mailed asking what the next step was) but I was wondering about Indiana. And this waiting on Yale is KILLING ME. It's good to know that everyone else is waiting. If I was sitting, wondering by myself, I would be going crazy.
  10. Welcome @directMontana! Still no word from Yale on my end. Now URTA's are done...time to wait wait wait.
  11. So I'm impatient. I e-mailed Yale and asked when they were making decisions about the second interview. They said they would be contacting people the week of Feb 8-12. So...we'll have to wait a little longer. Best of luck!
  12. @aprilcleveland In an e-mail in Jan. Northwestern told me that it would be a couple of months before a decisions was made.
  13. I interviewed with Liz and we got on well. I thought. Though she did make it clear there was a lot of tough competition this year. She was super welcoming and open. @mwatt I'm sorry to hear that your Brown interview didn't go over well. She didn't tell me when notifications would be sent out. But she did say the callback interviews on the Yale campus would be Feb 20 and 21st...so I can't imagine it would be to long. I assume they want to give people time to prepare for those.
  14. Did my Yale interview, which marks my first interview of this kind, man it's hard to gauge how it went. There was no foot in mouth moment or anything, but with no other experiences to draw on I just don't know. And now I join you guys in waiting for a response.
  15. Got my URTA email. Interview with both Illinois State and Indiana. I also reached out and scheduled a private interview with UCF to talk to them about their Theatre for Young Audiences Program. Hope everyone else hears back from URTA's soon!
  16. @bluebane Yeah, I went ahead an dug up a copy. My college did it right before I left, and though I wasn't involved, I ended up with a script. I'm going to find some time to re-read it and at least familiarize myself with it.
  17. @bluebane Thank you! I am actually prepping to Direct "Lear" in the Spring right now...so I am torn. I will obviously be prepared to discuss Lear, but I'd better come in strong with a second play just in case they ask for something I'm not working on.
  18. I was just popping on here to see if others got an email from Long Island. Wasn't sure if they were actually interested in me as a director personally or just e-mailing everyone who is at URTA's. I did a little digging. It looks like an interesting program. I'm fascinated by the idea that you create a company with your fellow MFA students. Though I need a decent financial package to even think about a program and there I couldn't find much information. I was also wondering if anyone else had received specific schools for their URTA auditions. Good to know it should be coming soon. @bluebane I e-mailed Northwestern to make sure they got my packet. They said they did and if they were interested in meeting up they would send those e-mails in a "couple of months." I have a random question for those who've done URTA's before. I may just be making this more complicated than it needs to be. When a school says look at the "URTA play list" which is King Lear, The Tempest, Intimate Apparel, and Angels in America. Are they just expecting you to have prepared one of those plays or one classic and one contemporary? I'm stoked to hear that everyone's Yale interviews have gone so well! Mine is on the 1st and I am starting to get nervous and excited about it. Things are starting to really get going!.
  19. @mwatt Great! I'm glad your interview went well! I'm looking forward to mine and I'm glad to hear that they put effort into making the interview personal.
  20. Sounds like a plan. The name is Chris and I'm looking forward to meeting those who who will be in Chicago!
  21. I think I'm interviewing with Liz (I thought that they mentioned that when they called me) but I'm interviewing in Chicago on Feb 1st. They haven't sent me the details on the interview yet. I wait with baited breathe. Wish I could help you out @aprilclevelandbut I'm actually visiting Chicago with the wife (who is auditioning at URTA) and we are using it as a kind of get away for a few days. I'm also sorry to hear about the UCLA stuff. That really sucks. I too got the E-mail saying "You have an interview, don't ask me what it is, you'll find out." So anyone who wants to meet up in Chicago for coffee or drinks? I would love to just chat. Also, I can't stand Sara Falconer. She's been incredibly rude and unprofessional in most of mine and my wife's interactions with her. It's bad enough that when I mention I'm going to URTA too other friends they groan and roll their eyes and complain about the experience. Anyone else have a similar experience with her?
  22. THANK YOU @bluebane! Just having something to go on make me feel a little less nervous.
  23. It's awesome to see new names joining in on the conversation and it's great to see so many people called in to interview with Yale. I wish everyone the best of luck. As I mentioned before this is my first time going through the Grad School process. I know in the interview they'll ask "Why this program? What can you improve in? and why a directing MFA?" Anybody else any insight on what other questions often come up? Thanks!
