  1. My POI contacted on Feb 1 to confirm if i would be interested in attending the PSW. Then a day later I was contacted by the graduate coordinator to RSVP. My POI is Senior Research Scientist and head of a consortium. One of his students then contacted me later last week for the visiting logistics.
  2. I was also invited and am attending UT's prospective student weekend on Feb 20-22. I was first contacted by the POI and then by the grad coordinator two weeks ago for it. Im sure it depends on the university.
  3. @columbia09 I received an email from POI with invitation for prospective student weekend Feb 20-23. I assume those types of emails will be sent and confirmed logistics will be conducted during this week.
  4. Personal statements/statement of purpose are a very important part of the graduate application. Does anyone have any specific DOs or DON'Ts about what to include? Perhaps being in the field of earth science, what things to emphasize while still not just listing what you have done. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Any recommendations for other faculty to contact? Im pretty nervous about funding this year, considering the down turn.
