BA Honours in Ontario is just a 4-year degree. A BA (without honours) is only 3 years in Ontario. My regular, non-honours 4-year UBC degree is technically a 4-year honours degree in Ontario.

I didn't find their reply patronizing in the least. Being Canadian and a social sciences grad myself, I found their reply to be scarily accurate and definitely applicable to the Canadian environment.

Just declined my Waterloo MPS and Ryerson MPPA offers for anyone who is still waiting or on waitlist.

Wow. Good to know. I just declined my MPS offer so I guess it doesn't matter, but while doing my research on the program, I never saw a tidbit about how the program wasn't situated on main campus...

I'm from Vancouver and have no interest in hunting for my own place and then buying/renting furniture, so I've just gone with a housing company (Domus).

They emailed me some vague "We've made a decision on your application -- check RAMSS" email yesterday afternoon. It was a really positive email though so I thought I was in? I check only to find nothing there. The Letter of Admission showed up this morning though. Ryerson offered me $5,000. How about you? I've already accepted UWaterloo Political Science with $17,750 in funding and an 8-month co-op, so I am *for sure* declining Ryerson. Oh yeah, I've already signed my lease in Waterloo for the year. #earlybird But congrats on getting in so early though!!! Your application must've been out of this world.

MA Poli Sci and MPS students at Waterloo have access to the same pool of co-op opportunities. Who knew Waterloo had the largest co-op program in the world? I didn't. Thanks for your advice. (Picked the MA btw -- they threw in an extra 3k).

Hi everyone! I'm moving to Waterloo this fall for my Masters. I've never been to that city in particular, but I have spent months in Toronto. Anyone who's been in the area have anything pertinent to add this list of thoughts/opinions? I'm really curious as to what my new home is going to be like.

Officially accepted UWaterloo MA Political Science. Could not say no to the $18,000 they offered me. Plus a strong political economy program (my focus)!

Fair. Thanks for your input. My specialization within the MA Poli Sci at Waterloo would be public policy/political economy based, so (hopefully) decently practical for employment purposes afterwards. The 8-month paid co-op offered by the department of Political Science would also provide me with the experience I need, as well. I would be able to pocket all the co-op pay as my MA would be mostly paid for. From the research I've done online, it seems many MA Poli Sci grads get the same jobs as MPS grads afterwards (e.g. lots of policy analysts at different municipal and provincial departments across Canada). It's just most MA Poli Sci students had pretty high averages which qualified them for the 15k whereas MPS is more holistic and accepts a more academically diverse crowd.

Please oblige in helping me with a quandary: I've been offered admission for both MPS at Waterloo (with co-op) and MA Political Science at Waterloo (with co-op). I'm heavily leaning towards accepting the MA offer because it comes with $15,000 in funding (TAship as well as scholarship money). MPS offers nothing. I do want to work in government affairs (whether for the public service or the private sector), but I'm mainly interested in picking a program that is superior in both co-op placement and eventual real-life employment possibilities. Because I am very open to working for the private sector, I think the MA program may be better suited than the MPS. What do you guys think?

Oh my goshhhhhh, I got an acceptance to my #1 pick, but it turns out one of my 3 references has yet to upload my reference letter yet! My official acceptance document can't be processed without it. My prof has been MIA for the last two weeks and I feel so anxious, especially since I'm letting a very good offer from another school expire today...

Hey twinsora. Is most of the MA cohort at York left-leaning? I noticed much of the faculty studies Marxist and/or Gramscian thought, writes for the Socialist Register, etc. Much of my political science work in the past was moderate and even right-leaning at times. I think York would be a good place for me to learn from those I usually disagree with, but I'm not sure if I would attend if this resulted in a detriment academically (and even socially).
