  1. I heard from UIC back in January. I was accepted and they sent me a letter in the mail around the 21st I believe. I applied in October. The weird part is that nothing ever changed on my online portal. I got the acceptance but online it continued to say referred to the program. It wasn't until just last week that it finally changed. Crazy! I heard they are notoriously slow moving.
  2. Hi Sarah, I noticed that you attended UIC. I am considering attending this Fall for the MSW and have already recived my acceptance. I am an out of state student and trying to figure out how to cut the cost down a bit. Do you have any knowledge of the financial aid offered at UIC? I don't have any log in information so I can't really search online specifically for me and I have called and they are very vague. Just trying to do some investigating!

Hi there! So sorry that I didn't see this until now. I'm not very familiar with out of state financial aid options, but my impression is that UIC doesn't give out much aid. I would email Edward Potts to see if there are options for you. I didn't get any aid my first year and my second year I got the Deans Award, which wasn't a large sum of money but it was something. I know they also give our a few tuition waivers. I was in state however, so that may have had something to do with it. I worked part-time while I was in school to off-set costs and am doing the ten year loan forgiveness program

  3. Whoa fenetian that's awesome. I am going to call tomorrow! Mine has been "referred to program" for probably 10 weeks+. Best of luck! I hope the review process is speedy for you!
  4. fenetian, I am applying there as well I will need to check that out. Mine has been marked verified correct for all but two items. I have had everything in for about 2 months yet they still aren't marked verified correct. It's a bit frustrating because they say that you will hear an answer about 8 weeks after everything is marked verified correct.
  5. morlvera I did the same thing, sent a thank you note and a starbucks gift card. I've read that professors always say a thank you note it more than enough.
  6. I'm done as well! Mine are all MSW only: U of Chicago, UIC, WashU, UCSD, Penn, U of Toronto I already heard from Penn and got an email from U of Chicago saying that my application is now under review! It's happening! I already thanked my references and have committed in my mind to being finished... but I keep itching to apply to more! I won't do it though. It's just so tempting.
  7. I believe that most programs tell you what funding you will get along with your acceptance
  8. I was accepted to Penn two weeks ago! Yay!
  9. Hi jazzy, those are great schools! I don't know how many is typical to apply for, I would guess anywhere from 2-10. I am applying for 7, but I am focused more on locations than just schools. Average acceptance rate from what I've seen is 40-50%. I would add a safety school if you feel you aren't a very strong candidate. It doesn't hurt. For the most part however, it seems that most people will get in to at least one of their schools if they meet all of the admissions requirements. Would you all agree with this?
  10. You are probably right! Waiting is so hard
  11. I've seen this, thanks! I am just curious since some schools have similar deadlines but also admit students as they come in.
  12. Anyone know if UChicago MSW is accepted on a rolling basis?
